I'll be in San Diego next weekend and currently have a full size reserved. It says a "Malibu", but just curious if anyone knows for sure what they have in stock for full size rentals? Of course, finding a decent upgrade of some sort in my spot makes this post irrelevant! :D

Did you look here http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hertz/1250428-us-fleet-list-hertz.html? All fleet vehicles listed. If you find something different, add your information.

Per the fleet list you can expect one of the following:

Fullsize (F, FCAR)
Dodge Avenger F FCAR
Ford Taurus F FCAR (New to fleet)
Mazda6 F FCAR
Toyota Camry F6 FSAR (Eco-friendly label, reservable)
Chevrolet Impala F, YF FCAR
Chevrolet Malibu F, YF FCAR
Honda Accord YF FCAR
Hyundai Sonata YF FCAR
Nissan Altima YF FCAR (Not equipped w/ XM)
Toyota Venza YF FCAR
Dodge Charger YF FCAR
Chevrolet Captiva YF FCAR (Re-badged Saturn Vue)

Be aware they also might try to give you a Ford Fusion, which used to be a standard size but they're now pushing it as a fullsize. I rented a mid-size this weekend at MLB and got one of these; I'm thrilled it's not a Corolla but it's definitely not as big as an Impala.

Don't expect a Taurus as those are pretty new to the fleet and unless someone brought one down from LAX I doubt they'll have any.

And from a couple of weeks ago:
Full sizes at SAN are typically altimas, malibus and Mazda 6s. Not sure about mid sizes.

If you want a roomy smooth ride ask for 2012 Impala. Had one for a day. It has same 300 hp engine as Camero and Buick Lacrosse. It is a lot quieter then the 2011 model and good hwy fuel mileage at 30 mpg.
