Hi, when TG now resumes TPE i'm looking at an itinerary like this:
FRA-BKK on 74N
BKK-HKG on 380 with some hours in HKG...
HKG-TPE on 330
The total miles for this would be 7132 so it's well under 8000.
Would it be allowed for TG5BA or TG5FA award for this itinerary?

Hi Magnus,
I'd suggest phoning your local TG office for a definite answer.
I can't see why your itinerary wouldn't work, but why speculate?
To help the rest of us in the future, please post the official answer.
Thanks,

It would definitely work using UA miles to redeem Thai flights.
You can do a one-way, however all those connections has to be less than 24hrs.
Biz will set you back 60,000 miles, First 70,000 miles (saver awards).

Magnus mentions keeping under 8000miles which should immediately trigger a TG award. Not to mention the ROP status (and not UA) in their profile and the award types, "TG5BA or TG5FA" are not UA based.
Mentioning UA is irrelevant to this discussion.

Incredible and congratulations, I work my butt off in Mynamar for a couple of months and you blitz everyone, nearly 6000 posts and all succinct, but enough chit chat.
In regard to the award flight, asked by Magnus,, you could ask for either, depending on where you wish to sit, but even without checking the last two legs are often in business, which I am sure you are aware of. I always catch the morning 747 to HKG and the 9.30pm home , and without fail have always been upgraded to first. Don't forget the awards are 50% too. I do all my bookings face to face, and we work out to the last mile what we are entitled to, so in the drawer are stacks of tickets to Penang, Vietnam and CNX which I hope to use but were added on, just in case I wanted them. Your add on to TPE is great, have a good experience, it appears it is TGs time to bath in the sunlight, will be on the first flight, so I will let you know.
Again thx for taking your time!
First the one with partner having something totally uninteresting numbers or whatever, i dont know anything about UA and will never do.. no hard feelings though ;) btw, i did love flying TWA in 747 but especially tristar...
Now there has been a change of plan.. because this is no working just fun i want to go FRA-BKK-HKG-ICN instead for my TG5FA.
On that award you can use up to 8000 and with my itinerary there will be 59 unused miles ^
HKG-ICN-HKG will be Biz only but i will for sure survive this.
Looking for November so First in 74N, 380 and 77W will make my day for sure!
For me that sounds like a dream just paying taxes.
I will know in a week if this award will work when i'm eye to eye to some TG-representative in Thailand.
BKKROP, thx for all your help, sometimes i understand everything but sometimes i dont understand a dime ;)
Little update for FRA-BKK-HKG-ICN return trip
Pattaya office said not allowed HKG-ICN due to no F when using F award.
TG in Bangkok by email said no HKG-ICN due to direct flights BKK-ICN.
Maybe just skip ICN and enjoy the trips in F!?

I was wondering if that will work out within one award ticket below 8000 points as I wasnt sure that ROP@BKK will grant permission.
I assume the lack of F-class was not the real reason to deny this routing. As to my knowledge the conditions do permit only one stopover/transit in Thailand and nowhere else. Thus they may reject it because there are direct flights between BKK/HKT and both TPE and ICN. The change of flight(number)s in HKG is not permitted according to their rules (which we may discuss here but most probably without any positive effect).
To my understanding you would have to apply for a seperate award ticket HKG-ICN or HKG-TPE if you still plan to travel to these destinations. But if you are just flying for fun and don't see any need to go to SEL or TPE, then you better skip it as it's never sure you will get the aircraft you expect, means the new B777. You can only count for sure on the A380 - even the 74N on FRA-route may see frequent changes within this year, I suppose......

Sounds to me like a bogus reason to deny you the leg. If the award is for 8K miles pax should be allowed 8K in miles.
Does this mean flights through BKK to SIN, PNH, RGN etc aren't allow to ticket an F award? How about with a dom connection?
Seems to me you're making the most of the system TG set up and they're trying to deny that.
Finally booked the 50% FRA-BKK-HKG.
The lady @Stockholm office really tried to make a booking with ICN included but with no luck and i'm quite happy anyway.
Hopefully 3 different F-cabins will be nice to try!
