This promo probably works best for folks who do low cost stays at Hyatt Place/House properties where the rates are around $100 or less. Doesn't seem to make much sense if you are staying at expensive full service hotels.

Best for one night stays as the promo is based on stays and not nights.

What I'm not clear on is whether or not you need to choose Airline miles for the 1st stay or if you are allowed to choose GP points. This directly affects me since we have a 5 night stay starting 5/4 which makes sense to credit to GP followed by 3 1-night stays at Hyatt house which would makes sense to credit to Airline miles.

I'm not sure but my guess would be that you can - but you won't be able to double dip in two programs - another words - if you have 15 stays in the period - you can credit 11 to program A and then register for the 2nd one and credit the remaining 4 to program B.

Based on my experiences from the last time Hyatt had a promo with AA, the stays always posted as points (even though I would ask for miles at the hotel), then I called up CS, they would change to miles. Thus, I don't think it will be an issue at all. I mixed and matched points and miles throughout the promo period...whichever made more sense for me.

Based on the response that I just got:

I have double checked the information with Gold Passport management. You do have to choose airline credit for the first stay during the promotional period for it to count towards the bonus. Let us know if there's anything else we can assist with.

I'm guessing that the first trigger (after registering for the promo) is the first stay with the fixed miles - then subsequently the bonus miles kick in. I guess you can mix and match afterwards.

Is this mileage promotion in lieu of a points promotion?

Or are people expecting another points promotion?

If I stay three nights @ $160/night and choose points at a full line Hyatt, then as Diamond I get approximately 4k Hyatt points (+/-, just based on my experience).

So getting 2500 UA miles (500*5) doesn't really stack up to 4k GP points.

Am I thinking of this correctly?

Same question, so if I choose this I only get airmiles and no GP points?
Also, What about Diamond amenity points at check in, would I get those in addition to the airmiles since they are kinda a separate thing or is there some kind of air miles bonus for diamond amenity? Only ever got GP points so not sure on air miles.

... in this case the bonus is a bit misleading, as it is not a bonus but regular points. A bonus implicits a more over the regular and could not explained by the regular points. It should read "OR select Hyatt Gold Passport bonus points"

Since it is advertised in Germany on the German LH homepage, this might be boderline if it come to false advertising as there is no bonus at all (and thus could be brought to the attetion of the German Wettbwerbszentrale by someone who is a troublemaker (Centre for Protection against Unfair Competition) - also I doubt they will step in). Maybe GPP should change the wording?

I have no inside knowledge but my guess is yes. I have always understood airline promos to be separate from HGP promos.

Hyatt ran a Southwest airline promo last year from October 2011 through January 2012.

Hyatt's 2011 Fall promo ran from September through November. So, it is possible that Hyatt could overlap promos.

I'm planning on doing the same. Can anyone confirm that this works with this promo? I would assume it is after looking at the T&Cs, but just wondering if anyone has done this already. It also seems like it would be ok to go back and forth between points and miles even before the 11 stays. I know this has always been OK in the past miles promos, because I normally take the miles on my one-night stays and the points on longer, more expensive stays.

I don't know about multiple airlines (just PMed Gold Passport Concierge for clarification). However, I can confirm that you can definitely go back and forth between points and miles - my first stay after the start of the promotion was a 5 night stay that I took points, next 3 took miles (had it converted afterwards) and it worked like it should (1st stay was the trigger w/o bonus - next 2 had the bonus applied).

If you register for this Promotion for more than one airline loyalty program, you will only earn the Additional Miles/Points set forth above under the Promotion for the airline loyalty program that you provided at check-in during your first Eligible Stay during the Promotion Period. If you select a different airline during your subsequent Eligible Stays, your additional Miles/Points will be awarded for the airline loyalty program that you provided at check-in during your first Eligible Stay during the Promotion Period.

Can someone confirm if I am getting this right. I can register for this from UAL but I will either get miles from UAL or GP points from Hyatt but not both?

If I choose the miles, each stay will still count towards qualifying for Diamond correct?

My dilemma is that I am about to embark on a 3 night a week trip for the next 12 mos., all of which will probably be at Hyatts. Therefore Mrs. Perfect, as I like to call her, will steal all of my points and miles for her vacations, and I will like it or else. She would like the room upgrades the most. I would prefer any left over miles for business trips. Obviously she will win this battle but I want to make sure I am getting the most for us.

I'll be primarily staying at the two Savannah locations for much of the next year, which I think will net me right around 1,000 pts per stay. Anyone have any thoughts on which direction to go?

Yes, I believe this is correct. You only get miles if at checkin you provide the FD your FFM #. The only thing you should see in your acct is probably the check in amenity. I just started this process today and had FD enter my SW #. Will wait a couple of days and see what happens. From my travel pattern and local airports, SW gives me the biggest bang for the buck.

Signed up for the promo then did 2 stays last week. When I checked in, I told them I wanted AA miles, and I gave them my AA number. Both times they seemed unsure of how to add it.
I checked my account and I noticed I got points for both stays:
Base - 410
Diamond welcome - 500
Diamond Bonus - 123
total - 1033

Called up Hyatt and they said they would switch the points to miles.
Here's where it gets iffy:

1. They gave me 500 miles for each stay, I asked about the bonus (2nd stay should be 2k total miles) they said, "we only give 500, its the airline that gives the extra miles"
true?

2. I asked how many points I have for the stays, she said I get either points or miles, not both. I asked about the diamond welcome points. She said its one or both, I said:
"But if I choose miles and also a drink as my welcome gift, wouldnt I get both then?"
She then put me on hold while speaking with a supervisor. She came back and said, its only 1 or the other. I recommend you get the drink when you arrive, but its only miles or points, not both.

I just realized, thats BS...because I got NO diamond arrival gift then, because if I wasn't diamond, then I would get 500 miles anyway. So theres no benefit to being a diamond (by their logic)

What the heck!

The agent agreed, but she was only aware of points OR miles.
She talked with her supervisor and was gone about 5 minutes.
She came back and said I do get my diamond points.

So I got 500 points per stay.

But you should all be aware of this...seems like a lot of agents (well agent #1 and #2 and supervisor #1) think its points OR miles only - no diamond arrival points.

I though a current SPG promo is disappointed, 10 nights for 1 free night.

Hyatt probably feels its own promo is slightly better.

I value 24,500 miles to USD 200 at max. So, you kinda get $20 rebate given you do the all 1 night stay.

FWIW, I didn't even attempt to choose miles at check-in since they were Hyatt Place / Hyatt House properties - I just had them converted to miles after the stay posted to my account - worked as expected with the bonuses posting also. suite2suite is precisely correct that you would still be entitled to the Diamond welcome bonus (in North America) and the lounge closed/denied access bonus.

My idea is to get tha airline bonus miles plus the GP483 bonus points (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hyatt-gold-passport/1349364-gp483-2-000-bonus-points-german-warsaw-zurich-properties-through-7-31-12-a.html). How to do that? Can I chose miles for the first stay and points for the following eleven stays for getting both bonus?

You can't. Choosing points for the following stays won't trigger the airline bonus.

I've been converting points stays to miles stays after the fact and the bonus miles have been posting to my UA account when the miles get posted (anywhere from 3 days to a week after the conversion).

I credited to SWA as well. The 600 base showed up, but not the bonus.

Actually, my HGP account shows the 600 miles, but no additional bonus miles. Is that an indicator of problems?

If Hyatt is only going to run one promo per year, you'd think they could at least code their computers to administer is properly.

I registered back in May. I just called last week to switch 4 stays from points to miles-- the first four stays I had accumulated. I was again assured that I was registered properly (well, after the agent found the promo -- mostly they deny that it exists!)

But sure, I'll register again. Thanks.

Went back to register, got this:

Our records indicate that your account is already registered for this promotion. You may register another account or if you require additional assistance, please contact Hyatt Gold Passport Customer Service at 1-800-30-HYATT or your nearest Worldwide Reservation Center.

So it is your experience that base and bonus miles post at the same time to WN? I don't mind waiting a bit, otherwise I'll call.

I've never done WN so I could be wrong but normally the stay posts then a bit later the bonus posts on the Hyatt side then swept over to the airline side later (up to a couple of weeks) perhaps with WN you never see the bonus on the Hyatt side.

You're at the mercy of Hyatt because they are the ones that will be telling United how many points to issue.

I must say my experience on this promo and BA hasn't been good at all. Did multiple stays in June, miles were credited to BA shortly after but bonus miles weren't. Wrote to GP who said they'd take 3-4 days after to post. No sign of miles, and wrote again. This time GP said they'd take 6-8 weeks to post. Still missing. Wrote to GP again. This time GP tried to wash their hands off the situation saying, from my GP account details, BA apparently had already extracted the miles from GP and said it's got nothing to do with them now, I should contact BA. But when I contacted BA, they absolutely had no clue what this promo is about... kept saying that "you'll get the 5,000 miles bonus only if you convert 20,000 miles" (referring to the standard GP to BA conversion rate!). The official BA response I got in writing was "... to earn 25% Bonus Avios you had to transfer Points from a hotel rewards account to your Executive Club account. Avios earned through a hotel stay is not eligible for the Bonus Avios." How idiotic.

The whole experience was very frustrating indeed ... after several angry follow up emails to GP, someone there finally had the decency to notify their "airlines liaison person" to work with BA to get my bonus miles credited. And I'm still waiting...

This promo ended up pretty awesome. I got in 8 or 9 stays. I would actually bounce hyatts in 3 different cities I was at for multiple nights. The front desks thought I was insane, oh well.

People look at me funny, but on SWA 3000 pts/night is the equivalent of about 40 dollars of airfare.

Thx hyatt! Need another 10 stays or so to requal diamond!

I have a one night stay checking in on 8/31 and out on 9/1 and Gold Passport said it will count to the summer promo ending on 8/31, not the fall promo that starts on 9/1.

My guess is that your 8/31-9/4 stay would count one night towards the summer promo and 3 nights towards the fall promo. But since the summer promo is based on stays and the fall is based on nights, you should probably call to be sure. Maybe you can check out and back in on 9/1 if that would make a difference.

I'll call later to have them redeposited which is a pain, but I was wondering if the diamond bonus points are also supposed to be taken away or should be left intact like diamond amenity points.

Yes, you would get the amenity points and the 2500 points for a closed lounge.

It's no news that Hyatt would never post the stay credit correctly if choosing airlines miles. Always have to call and have them either to convert GP pts into miles or post the entire stay credit. A few extra follow up calls for missing the diamond amenity points and close for the RC bonus points even you told the CS clearly is something that you can not avoid. This happens to ALL my 11 stays that I decided to utilize this promotion.

I have all my 11 stays at the same property and it's all on the weekend when RC was closed. I have no problem having the first 9 stays (time period from May 4th to August 3rd) to get the base miles, bonus miles, diamond amenity points and 2500 pts for close of the RC bonus posted. Of course, 2-3 calls to the GP line per each stay to make them posted correctly.

However, when I called today for my 10th(August 17th) and 11th stay(August 24th) of this promotion, the GP diamond line CS could only help me with the base miles, bonus miles, and the diamond amenity points. They claimed that I am not eligible to get the 2500pts because when they confirmed with the property, the property told them only if the RC is open and due to high demand access that I can't access or the RC is under construction on the day when it suppose to open then I am eligible to get the points. Since the club always close on the weekend for every to access so they insisted not to give me the points. This is so confusing! Even though I told the CS that during check in, the front desk of that property already mentioned there will be 2500pts added due to the RC close on the weekend and also asked them why my first 9 stays had no such a problem, they still couldn't do anything about it and wanted me to contact the property myself. Anyone has any idea if the 2500 bonus pts for RC close policy has been changed?

You called Hyatt Gold Passport 25 times to get 11 stays posted and it still hasn't posted correctly?

shota0922

You called Hyatt Gold Passport 25 times to get 11 stays posted and it still hasn't posted correctly?

Yes, if I choose miles for the stay, it never posted automatically after check out. I normally wait for two weeks before I call. Even it was confirmed by the front desk that my airlines frequent member number is in placed and even it was printed on the invoice when I checked out. The first call for each stay normally just to get the stay posted. (base miles, bonus miles, diamond amenity)

As for the 2500pts for the close of RC, it's always missing even though the GP line CS normally says it will show up within 48hrs. Waiting for 3-4days and I need to make the 2nd call to follow up on that. I've been told that the 2500 bonus pts is control by the property so the CS of GP line can only send the request again to the property and ask them to give me the points instead of just adding it themselves. In some case, I need the 3rd call after 3-4days of 2nd call.

If I choose points for the stay, amazingly they all posted automatically after I check out within 48hrs. I got everything including the base points, 30% bonus for diamond, diamond amenity and close for the RC bonus. The first call will be asking them to convert from GP points to miles. Then as previous post mentioned, they will also take away the diamond amenity pts and RC close bonus pts. So here comes the 2nd call to have them correct it. Some will come back telling me if I choose miles for the stay, I am not eligible for the points for diamond amenity then I have to ask the CS to read/confirm the diamond member T&C again. Then of course, the 2500pts for close RC requires another follow up call.

Normally I don't even bother to remind the GP line CS that it should be 1500pts instead of 1000pts if the diamond amenity pts was not posted correctly at the first place because it's gonna take another 3-5minutes to put me on hold waiting them to check the policy which all of them should memorize and be clear before picking up customer's call.

Thanks God the current promotion does not involve with airlines miles and I wish I will never ever call the GP line again for the coming stays!

Update on 9/9: I have a stay on 9/8 at the same property again and I told the front desk about this during check in. Later on my account is added with 5000 GP pts for the two times close of the RC bonus.
