Mileage Run Discussion - Newbie with some time - maximizing BOS/LHR/PHL

Hi, everyone! Rookie here - appreciate any tips for something I'm trying to do. I'm going from BOS-LHR on June 24 early evening. Need to be in LHR by 7am the 26th. So I have a whole day to kill!

For my return, I need to go LHR-PHL on June 29 after 5pm, or early June 30. My budget is around $1700. I'm trying to accumulate miles as quickly as possible on UA.

The question is - with these guidelines, what would you do to maximize your miles, particularly for the outgoing flight? Ideas, suggestions, or suggested routing (and how to do it)? Anything you can share would be most appreciated! Trying to learn by doing...

I do need to fly *Alliance. Any better ideas than that one?
