Instead of having it be 300 pages long, and forcing people to weed through it, they've put all current offers on the first post.

The problem is that the first page is not kept updated. Frequently, offers on there are long out of date or are not the best offer.

I don't mean to come off as too harsh. I appreciate UAFan's efforts, but locking the thread ensures that it is not always up to date.

My understanding is that the master thread is intended as a reference to allow us to quickly see recent offers. Discussion of those offers occurs in the separate thread which exists for each offer.

Read post 223 (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/16684529-post223.html) to understand UA Fan (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/members/ua-fan.html)'s method for updating the thread. If something is not current send a PM to suggest an addition -or- a removal. Make it easy for UA Fan to do this, include a link to the offer and discussion thread.

mia is correct, that thread is meant as a reference thread. Initially I kept it open, but people began to discuss the specific offers in it, so at beltway's suggestion philemer and I closed it down. If you send me PM's I shall gladly update the OP and make a post at the end of the thread.

This way when I make an update, all those who are subscribed to the thread will see it in their active threads. They just need to click the small triangle near the thread and will automatically be taken to first post not read by the user. That way someone does not have to spend much time finding the new offers. It was designed to be a quick way to get an update on developments.

Note that the success of the thread depends on contributions from all FTers. I don't think any of us look through every forum every day, so I am not aware of new offers and as I don't read all the threads I don't know which ones have have expired.

Many thanks to all those who keep sending me PM's and to philemer for opening and closing the thread.

Before IB can finally implement the long overdue wiki-post feature on FT (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/talkboard-topics/1311675-discussion-re-resolution-asking-internet-brands-implement-wiki-posts-flyertalk.html), the current master thread is the 2nd best we can get. If y'all will turn up the heat to IB and chime in the referenced TalkBoard Topics thread, that will be much more helpful than complaining not seeing most updated offers.

If all those who have current info can take the initiatives and PM relevant info in a more timely manner to our volunteer complier UA Fan, all FTers will be able to see a more current list. I really can't see any downside of the current method to maintain the CC offers master thread when everyone helps out. YMMV.

ETA:

Maybe UA Fan can edit his OP to include the methods how the list is updated and what collaboration he expects from participating FTers (PM him with links/offers/...etc), so newbies and other FTers would know better how to utilize the info shared and/or be part of the ongoing effort? The current OP isn't clear enough in that regard. Maybe not everyone has time to read every page of a master thread. But I think a clearly spell-out first post certainly won't hurt.
