Iberia Airlines Iberia Plus - Madrid transit: will my duty free wine be taken from me?

Hi all
I am flying with Iberia to Italy from Mexico next week with a transit in Madrid. I wonder if I have to go through security screening in Madrid? I might want to buy some wine at the duty free in Mexico City airport and carry them on board, but of course if I am to be re-screened again in Madrid, then I won't be able to take them with me.
I don't want to check the luggage since I gather with the strikes, the chance of not getting it back on time will increase.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

You won´t be able to carry liquids from Mexico with you, cause you have to pass through the scan area.

So there are no shops selling wine after security check at Mexico City airport? Or there is an extra check at the gate? I have carried on board many times before wine bought at varied airports after security screening but the question I have this time is if I will be subjected to security check again during the transit in Madrid. Of course if there are no shops selling wine after security at the Mexico City airport then the whole point is moot. Thanks

I am shortly passing through MAD en-route to LHR and have been warned NOT to purchase any liquids before I board the plane otherwise they will be confiscated at MAD. If you must purchase wine before departure, then the message is clear: place it in your checked baggage.

The answer is yes, you have to pass through security again in Madrid before you get your connection so if you have any liquids in your hand luggage, they will be taken off you in Madrid.

Presumably you don't want to defer your wine purchase until MAD because then it wouldn't be duty free for onward travel to Italy. I don't know but it might still not cost much more to buy at MAD, and I would expect the available selection to be better.
I have seen many people having numbers of bottles of wine confiscated at Madrid - Barajas, and suspect you do not want to be one of them. Of course, one might ask why one would want to buy wines in Mexico to take to Italy? Sure, Mexico has some decent wines, but... to Italy? Creo que no existe razon.
