i have flight coming up in few days and i wonder if there is any procession i should take when traveling with medication.
I have few different medication prescribed to me including pain medication. i know that i have to have the original bottle showing what pain medication i have . what about other meds (non narcotic) can i just combine them in one bottle. I know is non of their business what meds i have with me but i just don't want to run in to any problems.
Also when i comes to pain meds i have two different brands of same pain medication ( the pills look different) but they are same strength can i combine them .
thank you

Presuming that you are in the USA (you don't say), I can tell you that I have never been asked about any non-liquid medication. And even as to the liquid, that is maybe 1 in 50 flights at most.
Nonetheless, I keep meds in their original containers and I have copies of prescriptions for all meds.
This is a big non-issue. Don't worry about it.

Yes I travel with all kinds of pills and often I just put them in plastic bags (ie vitamins, non-prescription pain relievers, etc). I've been all over the world and never hassled about pills. A couple times I've taken prescription narcotic cough syrup through security and I've declared it because it was >3 oz..they compared the name on the bottle to my BP and sent me on my way.
Since you're traveling internationally... the only meds I would be certain to keep in their original container would be prescription narcotics (and that would include different brands of the same strength if they were different prescriptions)..just in case a nosy customs agent decides to scrutinize you (which is highly unlikely).
Anything else (including non-narcotic prescriptions) I wouldn't be the least bit concerned about and would have no problem combining them into one bottle for easy transport.

I do not know any of the rules in Europe, so I would keep everything prescription in the original containers.
For domestic USA travel you are never required to discuss your medication in any detailed fashion with the TSA. There are strict medical privacy rules in the USA, and TSA is not your health care provider, nor are they any sort of Court, which can compel you to prove your right to carry or use any medication.
I believe, the only place you might be required to say anything is if your medication is liquid, more than 3.3 fl oz, and not in your freedom baggie, in which case I understand the procedure to be that you declare the item to the TSA, and they may check it for explosives. You never have to discuss prescriptions with them, and the only reason it would be prohibited is if it is explosive.
In practice, I have never had an instance where the TSA has ever done anything about any medication, prescription or not.

I travel to Europe, Canada and Asia at least once a month and usually put my meds in those daily pill organizers. Never once have I been questioned.
I also have a medicine "pen" and have also never - even in the paranoid US of TSA - been questioned.
And I never have taken any of these items out of my baggage for separate screening.

If it's not a liquid the only TSA problems you might have is with sticky-fingered agents stealing stuff with street value.
If it's scheduled then I would keep it in it's original containers, otherwise do whatever you want with it. Airport security doesn't care about pills.
It would be a good idea to check the legal status of your stuff where you're going, though. Not all nations have the same rules. For exampe, we consider pseudophedrine to be OTC, it's prohibited in Japan. (It's related to speed.)

I travel internationally almost exclusively, mostly in the Middle East including Draconian Dubai, seldom returning to the States. My recent domestic travel experience is limited.
I carry a letter from my doctor stating which medicines I take and why. I keep medicines in their original containers.
Were someone in the TSA to ask me about medicines, I simply would not respond, nor would I produce any documentation. My medicines have little to do with security.

Why would there be extra security measures on May 1st?
Again, if it's not a liquid, don't worry about it.
If it's a liquid and under 3 ounces, put it in your Freedom Baggie and don't worry about it.
If it's liquid and over 3 oz, I recommend putting it in the bin with the label on it. They may or may not take a look at it but it's still allowed, do don't worry too much about it. If they want to open it to test for explosives, make sure they change their gloves, they open it in front of you, and keep it by you when they put the paper tester over the top of the bottle and when they put the tester in the machine. Do not allow them to carry the bottle away, do not allow them to do much at all.
