Looks like they have difficulties in attracting passengers to CKG. Not a week goes by without an offer to CKG.
The Crazy Days campaign offer of 419 HEL-CKG (actually the ticket cost me only 416 , perhaps due to currency fluctuations) was IMO better than this. Earns full AA mileage and is upgradeable.
Soon they will pay people to fly to CKG, at least in Y. :) I wonder if the J sales are better.

A paid HEL-CKG-HEL Y ticket includes 273,89 "taxes". From Europe, eg. CDG-HEL-CKG-HEL-CDG, the "taxes" are 367,10. So in that respect this offer is actually excellent.
Consider it not an offer of points+money but a tremendous point bargain: instead of forking out 124 000 points + 367 for a redemption ticket, AY offers you the very same ticket for 5000 points + 199. Crazier than Crazy Days...

Just stupid they don't allow upgrades...I could have easily thought to go for a quick weekend break with the "family boss" just for the heck of it but in AY whY?...I rather stay at home... ;)

Hmm, the offer says no upgrades with points. How about them vouchers?!? Well, probably not. ;)
It will be interesting to see how this destination takes off. A year ago Chongqing was the hot place in China, Bo Xilai was the new star in the Chinese politics etc. Well, sic transit gloria mundi, and all that. Still, it is an awfully big city, and this is the first non-stop flight to Europe.

Hello all, I have been reading this forum for a couple of years and decided finally to register and join the conversation. :)
At the beginning of this year I was able to use an upgrade voucher flying HEL-PEK when the ticket was bought for 449EUR + 1000 points. So while the upgrade with points is not possible, it should work with vouchers.
No points were awarded for those flights.

Welcome to the FT, haapalainen! And thanks for the information regarding upgrade with vouchers.
I am seeing this offer for Germany and Denmark, not Estonia, for example. Which makes it a bit more difficult for someone based in HEL to use.

The designated Chinese president, Mr.Xi Jiping, among others has indicated massive investment programs for this region. It's just that in Chinese society everyone is waiting for the transition period from "old guard" to the new to be over before taking economic action.
There is also a highspeed rail link now between the major cities of Chongqing and Chengdu, the latter being the pre-eminent tourist destination in Western China.
I think this will be a booming destination but Finnair has to be able to sell their J seats to wealthy Chinese this time. Far less CEO-level expats than in Beijing or Shanghai.

Quite a tempting deal, but have to pay for visa and all. Would have preferred if they would offer something like this for HKG or TYO.

From UK, the taxes are heavier and not just the fuel surcharge. Is it that much higher? I don΄t know. From HEL we have 419+1000 AY-minuspoints.
Why not HKG or TYO? Might be a supply and demand thing. ;)

To the Finnair "specialists" here.
1. Do you think the Chongqing style offer is unique or any other Asian destinations will follow after that?
(What I like there ... is that is including a large time validity ... so you can fly in summer too ... I know Chongqing it's a furnace in summer and you need to arrange your visa in advance ... so it's not just a buy and go (if time) destination)
2.Anything like Chongqing -in summer- from Italy too? Do we need (always) to fly to Munich or Zurich for the best Finnair Deals?

Finnair don't have flight between Tallinn/Estonia and Helsinki. The route is operated by Flybe (40% owned by Finnair). OK, it's AY code-share.

I would keep eye on BKK route cause it's now daytime from BKK to HEL (departure 9 AM) and summer 2007 (?) it was also same kind of bad schedule BKK-HEL and offered great price like 450. And C class was very hard to sell too. To BKK is very silent In May and in June.
Also HKG will have 5 more flights in June so there might be some nice prices in Y class.

I believe the CKG offer is unique. My guess is the route sells extremely poorly, at least in Y, but AY is not ready to slash it even before it has opened.
ICN might be a destination with good offers. Aren't the loads light on those flights as well?

Is it possible that special offers for ICN (ex Europe) will be available in July-August?
... because summer vacation in S. Korea and Europe .. so Koreans are flying more

It's a very good point what you say about BKK and the current schedule, very hard to connect to AY in BKK (same day) and as it's already a light J route we should see some good prices..we already have the 35k upgrade offer on the table, which is good value.

I recall so, yes. And you don't earn any miles/points on these, either. But in today's Helsingin Sanomat they advertise the same destinations for virtually the same price (+ 30-40 EUR) w/o points involved. So it's better to book the regular offer, which earns full mileage and is upgradeable.

Asian offer is now extended to germany.
What I find interesting is that prices for singapore are actually lower from Continental europe, than from Finland. Maybe Finnair has entered into a market where there are shorter and more competitive routes available.
I also find interesting that BKK offer is missing from Germany offers.
Helsinki:
Bangkok Alk. 629 EUR
Chongqing Alk. 649 EUR
Delhi Alk. 449 EUR
Ho Chi Minh City Alk. 950 EUR
Hongkong Alk. 649 EUR
Seoul Alk. 599 EUR
Singapore Alk. 699 EUR
Tokio Alk. 559 EUR

It's business as usual for AY - ex-HEL (or end-point HEL) pax are penalized for not taking feeder flights... :td:
Latest example for me:

Sorry to bump this "old" thread, but did anyone have luck in booking a "point+cash" offer starting outside their own country?
I am trying ex CPH from a swedish account, by first logging in and then switching language. That gives me access to the danish offer search engine, but it ends up in an error "try again later".

Any current offer from Stockholm to Chongqing? I don't know how to check myself (I have finnish membership) other than just entering date and destination on finnair website but it gives quite a high price, about 8000 SEK.
I made a mistake(?) of booking a leisure trip to Chongqing but am now unsure whether I want to go there alone so I guess I have to lure my Swedish friend to travel with me and I'm sure he says yes if the price is right.

Yes, for the normal offers, there should be no trouble booking them from any country. (My trouble was with the points+cash-offers - never got that to work)
The CKG route seems to be selling OK, there is not much left of the offer during the summer. A few dates late july is around SEK 6300. Sample date 24/7 - 31/7. Many dates in august are around the 8000 you found.
