I have an upcoming trip on *A (UA and TG) with four legs (YUL-ORD-NRT-BKK-CNX). It is all on a single ticket; however, my layovers in ORD and BKK are both overnight (ORD is on purpose to visit a friend and BKK is because I cannot get to BKK early enough to get a same-day connection to CNX). I'm assuming that this means that I cannot check my luggage all the way through (i.e. I'll have to keep it with me overnight in ORD and again in BKK). Is this a valid assumption? I'd actually be very happy to have it checked through if I can (I'll have a change of clothes in my carry-on).

Just trying to make my plans in ORD and BKK and I have to factor in having luggage (especially in ORD because it has no left luggage facilities).

Thanks.

my understanding is that if the layover is less than 24 hours then it should be checked through; when you check for your first flight make sure they check you in for the entire itinerary and that your luggage is tagged through.

Thanks for the reply. It will be much easier for me if I can check them all the way through.

It depends on the airline and the airport. Anything over 24 hours is almost never possible but some airlines won't hold a bag longer than 12 hours at some airports, for example.

in BKK you'll have to collect your luggage... you have to do customs... so plan on having your luggage there with you... at least long enough to recheck it... don't know if they'll take it from you at night for the morning flight... never tried that
