A study by "Globes" has found that El Al Israel Airlines Ltd. (TASE: ELAL) prices to many destinations this summer are competitive compared with its rivals, even after a price hike to cover higher jet fuel costs, which came into effect on 20 March. Nevertheless specific price comparisons by destination are advisable.

Read it this morning and I don't believe it.

This is true. They make the revenue management teams look up the fares on every direct competitor on a daily basis so as not to be much more than anyone. But they also do the opposite. If LY is a lot less than the competition (LH, UA etc.) then they remove the low fares and raise them.

Absolute rubbish - i've yet to find a cheaper fare on LY from TLV-LHR and even TLV-(LHR)-NYC over BA.

Just priced up as the article says - July 25th to August 5th and this is what i found.

TLV-NYC
BA - $1,351
LY - $1,728 FAIL!

TLV-LHR
BA - $802.30
LY - $816.30 FAIL!

So i guess - based off my most frequent routes - that's a 100% FAIL for "Globes" study.

Good morning,

It seems that the search that you are doing is based on RBD (booking class). If you do a fare quote display, you should find that the ladder of fares are nearly identical. The amount available for each fare though varies as the booking system is a dynamic one.

El Al cheapest non low-cost carrier to Europe, North America

You get what you pay for. In other words, you pay little and you get little in return.

In-flight security aside, the El Al product (both hard and soft) is achingly and embarrassingly poor.

Other carriers have invested in decent and up-to-date seating for their F and J cabins; El Al just does not care.

Cabin crew invariably behave as if they are doing their passengers a favor by slinging hash as if they were working in an army cook house, while passenger behavior often echoes the national psyche of pushing and shoving as if they were queuing for an Egged bus.

Why travel on El Al, where passengers of both genders are liable to be hassled by orthodox passengers doing all they possibly can to disrupt other passengers' seating arrangements to protect their own perceived standards of "modesty"?

Or perhaps El Al is preparing potential passengers for this: http://www.thejc.com/news/uk-news/66601/thrills-no-frills-ryanair-eyes-israel?
