Looking at JB on Tues 9/18 Orlando > Newark one way. The fare on this date is $247. The preceding Tues (9/11) the fare is $121 and the following Tues (9/25) it's $121. uh, in my laymans mind I cannot understand the discepancy. Any help? Is there a better time to look and If I book this and the price goes down am I entitled to a credit? Sorry for ther simple questions but I am new to flying...

Thx... Kyle

Airline pricing makes no sense. Perhaps that's a busier travel day for some reason.

You can get a credit if the price drops after purchase, but you need to actively make the request. I use the website yapta.com to track fare prices, either before or after purchase. If the price does drop after purchase, you can rebook the ticket online (select "change the flight" and pick the original flight again). You also can call JetBlue if you see the price has dropped.

Given that you're booking so far in advance, it might be worth waiting to if the price drops. Typically prices are not at the lowest several months out, but come down closer to the date of purchase, before going back up within the last two weeks. I find this is generally true, unless you're dealing with school vacation dates (e.g., Thanksgiving, Spring Break), where people really want to travel on specific days and there is high travel volume.

Rosh Hashanah ends on the 18th, perhaps people who traveled for the holiday will be returning home on the 18th.
