Air France is taking over Abuja with a daily flight (http://airlineroute.net/2012/03/15/af-nigeria-jun12/).

KL's A330 crews should be quite happy.

KL's A330 crews should be quite happy. In this instance most definitely, but with KL management pushing for major productivity increases their happiness may not last.

Any insights as to why? I see that AF are introducing a daily flight to ABV (http://www.iol.co.za/travel/travel-news/airlines-expanding-into-africa-1.1272368) from beginning of June (KL's service was only 3x week), but it seems KAN is being dropped entirely.

Boko Haram?

Uhm. More likely linked to the way a French oil major is organized in Nigeria.

Indeed, as they give up the splendor of Abuja's shopworn Sheraton Hotel.

From September, KL will no longer serve MRS either. AF will replace KL's four flights with three of its own.
