Hi there,
For those of you that travel the route often enough to know, what should I be expected to pay for a flight on TG whY class in December 2012. Likely we'll leave about the 9th and return on the 31st of December.
I'm seeing about £1500 per person at the moment but would expect that to be a slightly inflated 'we haven't loaded decent fares that far in advance' scenario. What can we expect, so I know when to jump on them.
Kind Regards

I can't see better fares, but you may be disappointed if you wait too long. Christmas/New Year is peak season worldwide and Dec is peak season to Australia due to the summer season. Because many travellers book early for this time of year, any potential low fares may be moot due to lack of availability, in a few months. I suggest booking before Sep. to avoid disappointment.
In April, over 7 months in advance, discount business is nearly sold out, but all economy levels are available. See availability below:
1 LHR BKK 09/2135#1555 TG 917 F2 A2 P2 C2 D2 J2 Z1 Y4 B4 M4B E
H4 Q4 T4 K4 S4 V4 W4
2 SYD 10/1820#0740 TG 475 F2 A2 P2 C2 D2 J2 Z2 Y4 B4 M4B E
H4 Q4 T4 K4 S4 V4 W4
Having said all that, a number of carriers have fares of GBP 400-700 plus taxes.

Thanks for this response.
I realise Christmas is peak, but what I was looking for was historical knowledge of the cheapest Economy class fares generally go for during this period of time. I've found the cheapest out of FRA so far at about £1180 (£1340 for Q class), which is probably good enough for me to go ahead and book.
I need to fly Thai and I need to fly in Q class (so I can use the Gold Upgrade).
Incidentally does anyone know of a good Travel Agent in Germany I might be able to purchase the tickets through? The website and the callcenter for Thai seem to have inflated prices here in London for the same thing, so assume Germany would be no different. (I book through westeasttravel.com here in London for consistently £50 less than TG direct).
Thanks

bkkman,
I probably should have been more clear. I'm still wanting to fly to Sydney return, but I think my mileage earned will be really close (but not quite) 50k by December 31.
I don't have the option to fly from Australia any earlier than the 31st of December, so I needed to make sure I've got the option of then flying out of BKK before midnight on the 31st and the flight to FRA does that (where the flight to LHR leaves just after midnight, meaning I wouldn't get those miles for 2012 and preventing me from making 'Gold' for the year). A real annoyance, because London is home and less connections is better.
It does also factor that there is a chance of flying the 380 in J on the way back, which would be fun. But if I could somehow leave AUS on the 31st and still take off to London before midnight that would be the preference (but I can't seem to make it work).
Hence my interest in a German TA, as I can't seem to make Q class come up on TG's German site.
Thanks for the interest and help.

Thanks for the info BKKROP. Is that in Q? If so that is not bad and I can live with that providing I can use my ROP*G upgrade...cos just last month I went with TK in premium econ for £805....got op-up to IST..and from there on the seat to HKG is as good as the A330 on TG.....

It is a brilliant price, I hear that TK are very good, I will try them next month for a price. I get in a rut with upgrades and triple mileage and before I realise it Iam stuck flying Tg CX and QF, although now in se asia I use the local airlines a lot. I have also been seeing some great QR/EK fares to BKK, as they are trying to undercut some of the European carriers and establish a foothold.
