I was sitting next to a lady last night on a US Air flight and we were talking about how we miss flying via SWA from PHL to PIT and vice versa. She said she heard yesterday that SWA will be starting up this service again real soon. Has anyone else heard this :)

Ditto on the MHT & BOS runs.... That were always standing room only.

I see WN as pretty well run and thinks things through well. So unless they have some great predictive analytics that reveal all the biz travelers who appreciated the low fares but couldn't stand to fly WN because of the sheer horror and uncertainty of not having an assigned seat for 1 hr of their life or (more fairly) miss out on miles with their home airline, I don't think so.

And full flights do not mean money rolling in. I flew PHL-LAX on free tickets, but I could have bought them for $188 roundtrip. A flight full of those fares does not pay the fuel and labor bill!

US seems to stay very competitive with WN to the places they both fly non-stop. The BNA-PHL fares are always very close. If you are elite at US, the PHL-PIT route may make no sense.

you mean fly FROM PHL to PIT without going to MDW??:D

works for me...though i am one of those wacky ones who doesn't care HOW i get where i am going..as long as i get there...(and i DID try to get bumped from PHL-MDW too...hahah)

but yes, it would be nice to go PHL-PIT and have it done and over with fast...more time to eat in PIT..
