First post here!:)
I'm planning a trip to KUL via TPE from SFO this July in Y class. I heard that CI is now flying 744s with the new upgraded cabins and seats from SFO. Can anyone confirm this?
My other option is CX via HKG, but I'm not relishing getting one of their non-reclining seats on 744s from SFO.

Last weekend, I got the refurbished planes leaving and returning to SFO, but, apparently, it's possible to get the new planes instead, as well. Either way, your chances of getting stiffed with the old cabins are probably low, at least going by coolfish's information.
As far as the refurbished planes are concerned, it's literally just new seats in Y (the rather common Recaro seats with the rather common Panasonic eX2 AVOD system). There's USB ports (and presumably power ports as well) in the front 2/3 of the cabin, but they might not be turned on.

I think they've refurbished the planes to SFO. They're pretty new and each Y seat should have an AVOD. I think CI is close to refurbishing all their 747s.

CI used to boast the youngest 747 fleet in the world, those 747's look very tired from the outside and if they still have the old semi recline biz class well all I can say is keep it, truly awful
