Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer - Wi-Fi Now Active on a "few" A345's and "several" A380's (?)

We've seen this kind of story (rumour?) before:
This article in Australian Business Traveller dated 20 April 2012 indicates that wi-fi from OnAir is already available on a "limited number" of A345's to JFK/LAX and "several" A380's (routes not revealed).
There is nothing on the SQ website talking about wi-fi. I wonder if this article is really accurate and how can we find out which routes have wi-fi?

Hi Paisan96 – as the author of that article I can assure you it's accurate – I spoke with SQ and as the SQ spokesperson quoted in the article said, "We currently have connectivity services on a limited number of Airbus A340-500s and Airbus A380s".
There's nothing on SQ's website because the service has not been officially launched – also as the SQ spokesperson said in the article, "We will be formally launching our in-flight connectivity offerings in the coming weeks."
And if you're thinking that it's odd to have the service live but not announced and not even have any information on the SQ site, I would definitely agree with you there!
As to what routes have wifi, that's something SQ would not be drawn on.

I saw a big poster while boarding SQ22 yesterday in Singapore but no wifi....
From what i understand they have installed it on a few aircraft to test it. I also think they have a 77W with it installed but the aircraft with it installed has had issued with it.
I had WiFi on SQ 26 last Thursday (A380). E-mails worked just fine, wasn't able to load any webpage though. Error message was 'blocked because of inappropriate content' including www.singaporeair.com... ;-)

This month's KrisWorld guide has a an ad about the new wifi service. It states that it will be available on select A380, A345 and 777-300ER flights. However it did not mention what routes. It also has a map that shows what areas of the world wifi is offered or not offered. No mention of the cost.
I was on SQ 1 and 2 and there was no wifi on either flight. Wondering which 77W plane has wifi installed now

Took SQ 25 from JFK-FRA. Saw WiFi ad in magazine. Attempted connection and it wasnt active. Didn't bother to ask what the deal was. Will do so on return SQ 26 FRA-JFK on Thursday.

OnAir was available on my recent SIN/LAX non-stop on an A340, but not on the return aircraft. However the return aircraft was clearly being set up for it as the indicator light for OnAir was already installed.

For those that have tried it, what is the pricing? Any different between classes (Y, J, and F/R)? Or is it free right now because it is still in trial/beta?

No discounts for J and F/R. Everyone pays the full price. No specials during the trial/beta.

I'll be flying SQ37 LAX-SIN on A345 on Nov 1 -- I hope we have internet service.
Can anyone please tell me the price?
Edit: I see an article on Yahoo Singapore that lists it as From now to November 30, the airline will charge passengers for the wifi service at promotional rates of US$25 for every 30 megabytes of data surfed and US$10 for 10 megabytes of data, before it reverts to the regular tariffs of US$29.95 for 26 megabytes and US$11.95 for 10 megabytes.

I used it on JFK-SIN. Even though I didn't finish my credit on JFK-FRA, when I logged on again on FRA-SIN I needed to setup a new account again. So it is not like GoGo where it is good for 24 hours.
The credit goes really quickly! I used up 10MB in no time! At least people won't be using skype with these rates!

This is like a nightmare come true.
what if people are sleeping ?
cant they have phone booths zones like in the cargo hold area ?
this would be unfair for people who would like some peace and quiet.
next to smoking and children cries , this would be the next nuisance to contend and bear with ..

I flew LHR-SIN-LHR in a A380 in business class recently and there was lots of literature talking about the wifi, although nothing about the cost, and when I asked why it wasn't working I was told that it hadn't been installed. It felt pretty backward when I had received FREE wifi for the whole flight on a Norwegian flight to Copenhagen in June.
Incidentally nobody was using Skype on that Norwegian flight as far as I could tell. It was just a bunch of people quietly surfing the net on their iPads or checking their emails on their smartphones. So no disruption to those wanting to sleep.

I was on a flight which had the wifi yesterday. But you had to log on to see what the costs are. The problem was that although my iPad found the signal, it could not log on to the website. I gave up after 3 tries.

SQ have had phones on aircraft for years.
