This map...

http://www.alaskaair.com/content/~/media/Files/PDF/RouteMap20120207.pdf

is incorrect.. Alaska does not fly to MIA and FLL, not for a single day will it fly to both destinations at the same time, so, pick one ;)

I figured since things in this forum usually circle back to AS someone will see this thread.

I think it's reasonable. Currently you can purchase a flight on the AS website operated by AS to both MIA and FLL. The Route Map webpage clearly mentions in the table the service to FLL begins July 16. Why not promote each flight if you can buy a ticket for each one?

Because promoting both markets (and having them both at the route map) leads the customer to believe Alaska flies to both destinations and therefore on their date of travel they could fly to either MIA or to FLL which is not true.. perhaps if the webpage clearly also mentioned MIA service ends in June then it might be reasonable :)

By the same reasoning, it should not show SEA-SJD and SEA-PVR as not a nonstop because it does that only seasonally. After May 1, everything is no better than one stop. Is this also misleading?

If anyone tries to buy a ticket to FLL before the start of service, they're not going to be able to book it, much like they won't be able to book MIA on AS metal after AS discontinues service there (though I do believe the new AA service will carry an AS code as well).

If anyone is choosing flights strictly based on a route map, they really deserve the price of a ticket they end up with.

Clearly AS should have a dynamic route map that instantaneously updates so that route changes, seasonal routes, cancellations, etc are all shown accurately for the very instant in time that any person may choose to load the route map.

Anything less is simply outrageous missrepresentation!

You mean like AA (http://www.aa.com/i18n/aboutUs/whereWeFly/maps/world.jsp&anchorEvent=false) and Delta(http://delta.innosked.com/) and United (http://cgi.ua.flightlookup.com/routemap/routemap-fullscreen.html) do? Yes i think that would be awesome and most accurate :)

The comparison to UA, DL, & AA route maps isn't valid. You're not asking for a route-map which displays accurately at any given point in time (which it currently does - at least in the same way it does at every other airline I'm aware of). You're asking for a route map which is accurate for whatever date you intend to travel. The map, however, doesn't know what date is in your head - it's just pulling up a list of routes which can be purchased within the current 330 day booking window.

If I look at the route map intending to travel next week, then SEA-MIA is valid and SEA-FLL is less helpful. I somebody else pulls up the route map at the exact same moment, but in their head is contemplating a trip in August, then SEA-FLL is helpful and SEA-MIA is not.

Sorry your pet flight isn't continuing. Actually, I'm not since it wasn't contributing in a strong way to the airline's profitability. :D (sorry... couldn't resist).

Want to get on AA's case too; their route map as you referenced above shows a ORD-YVR flight, but that doesn't exist in the winter.

I can't for the life of me easily read the pdf route map. Since the timetable pdfs are not currently available, is there a convenient way to see all destinations from a given airport (in my case SFO or OAK)?
