Hi all- I'm wondering if there's any chance I'll be upgraded to a suite in the PH Paris. I have platinum status and I'll be staying mid June.

I can also change my reservation and book with more points for a suite, but am wondering first if there's a chance platinum will get me there.

Thanks!

I would reserve it with points. The chance of a suite upgrade as a platinum is very low. Almost no diamonds have received a suite upgrade.

Agree - this is a property that actually usually sell their suites - chances of getting a suite as a platinum are next to 0.

Is this a paid stay or an award stay? Award stays are not eligible for point upgrades.

True, but if it's an award reservation, the OP can reserve a suite instead for 33K points per night.

+1. Chances of comp upgrade are pretty much nil, especially in the summer months in Europe.

With a 3 night minimum stay requirement.

I think "next to" is a bit of an overstatement. :)

We'll be there in mid June for 5 nights and we're Platinum, but I didn't plan on anything special. Does anyone know what type of room we'll get? We're just hoping for something not in the basement. It looks like a fabulous location.

Both me and my father are Diamonds and there seems to be a bit more wiggle room with suite upgrades at that level. I originally booked 5 nights in a regular King (1 paid, 4 on points) for my parents and emailed the GM to see if she would be able to apply the diamond upgrade for all nights of the trip instead of just the one night that they paid for. She graciously allowed it and my parents were delighted by their accommodations.

Might be a good time to apply for a Diamond Status and see if you can finagle something like this up.

Fortunately for you, there are no guest rooms in the basement! Location is great, walking distance to the Musee D'Orsay and some other minor museum that I think is called the Venetian Blind or the Louver or some such.

he he he!! I'm already dreaming of Laduree. Is there any particular offer available to make Diamond quickly? We have 2 nights in Green Bay this week, but I somehow don't see that as worthy of becoming Diamond.

I'm not expert on that topic, but there might be a challenge available if you are highest status at some other chain (SPG, Marriott, Hilton, etc). There's a thread about challenges here somewhere.
