Star Alliance - Help: BCN-GRU SQ or LX?
I will be flying to Sao Paolo in a month trying to choose between SQ or LX for either Y or C.
I don't really mind connecting in ZRH. I really like the airport and stocking up on chocolates.
If I end up having to fly in Y I might choose SQ but somehow LX seems to appeal to me too. I can't choose. Anyone has flown on this route with both airlines?
Thanks in advance for the help.

For me, SQ. No questions asked. J or Y. Seats, food and drinks, IFE. And on your route, a direct flight.

Assuming fares are similar and both timetables suit you, my advice would be:
- In Y I would choose the direct flight without any doubt(you can buy the swiss chocolates in Bcn ;))
- In C, if you do not mind the extra 4-5 hours traveling time in each direction, you are fine in either airlines. The advantage of LX would be the extra miles for the european flights.

In C i would take SQ. The new C seat LX has is better than the old one, full flat but extremely narrow (LX puts 9 across in the 3x0 where others with a similar layout have 8 across in the significantly wider 777). The SQ seat is very comfortable, lots of space and great for sleeping.
I generally agree with the others: SQ is the better choice.
In Y I wouldn't even consider LX in this case. SQ is one of the more "survivable" airlines in Y (but if the flight is packed it's still an ordeal), and the flight from BCN will be a bit shorter than from ZRH (and every 30 minutes less counts in Y).
In C, both are good. But the seat on SQ puts it in my opinion a class above LX. (One thing to consider if you don't plan to sleep on the westbound flight: some people don't like the SQ seat because they find it too wide to sit comfortably. Personally, I think that the width is what makes this seat so great.)

SQ - no doubt about it.

LX has nine across in J on the 333/340? They only have eight across in Y...old J was six, new J is an alternating/staggered layout of four and five.
