The only night not yet booked on our trip is a single stay in the Gaililee, and I need to make a decision asap as I have my TA on hand.

I was originally planning a stay at the Carmel Forest Spa, but after reviewing photos on their wesbite and TA, I've decided that it's a pretty bland and dated property with overpriced nightly rates charging luxe prices for shabby looking 1960's decor in a shopping mall like setting. The only thing it seems to have going for it, apart from their spa treatments and possibly the level and quality of service, appears to be the views atop Mt. Carmel.

Whereas Akko itself, seems a much more picturesque and interesting port town with historic architecture and coastal charm. The Efendi Hotel, from the photos displayed on their website, appears to be a really special place. I'm starting to lean heavily towards a night in Akko at this property, over the Carmel Forest in Haifa.

I don't want to base my travel plans entirely on where we chose to stay however. Since both cities are in such close proximity, I would like your opinions (strictly in terms of level of interest) as to which city would be your preferred choice for a single overnight. Keeping in mind, that you would surely be visiting both on a day trip regardless. Where would you chose to spend the night, taking into account the degree of sites and activities offered in both destinations. We'll be coming from an extended stay in Tel Aviv btw, so being in a large city for the sake of such, does not weight heavily with us. We're more interested in exploring a different scene.

Thanks!

If you are looking for spectacular views of Haifa Bay (and Akko) and impeccable service, nothing beats the Dan Carmel Hotel (http://www.danhotels.com/HaifaHotels/DanCarmelHaifaHotel/).

The Carmel Forest Spa is literally in the middle of nowhere (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=Carmel+Forest+Spa+Resort&ll=32.720288,34.98785&spn=0.11626,0.154324&fb=1&gl=us&hq=Carmel+Forest+Spa+Resort&cid=0,0,6594934471148103883&t=h&z=13&iwloc=A).

Thanks for making this so easy... Carmel Forest is out!

The Dan looks like it has lovely views, but really incomparable to the Efendi in Akko. We'll be spending the night in Akko and probably make a short visit to Haifa during our time.

I recently stayed at the Crowne Plaza Haifa and thought it was a perfectly pleasant place (close to the DAN), with great views, and plenty of places to eat right nearby. Also, it is a short walk from the Bahai Temple grounds tour entrance.

Thanks very much, I've already reserved room #10 at The Efendi in Akko.

I can't wait!
