Qatar Airways Privilege Club - Infant in business why so expensive

I booked an award ticket with on Qatar using united miles.. it's one way in business from Montreal to Male via Doha.. I then wanted to add infant but united said they can't help and only Qatar airlines can. I called them and they said the cost is $1200... how could that be? if the cost of ticket is $5000 how can they charge so much??

anyway to get around this?

I believe airlines that charge the "10%" for an infant range from charging 10% of accompanying adults actual fare paid... right up to 10% of the FULL fare in that class...:eek:

This is full revenue fare for the inf? Tax on inf is normaly around 65 CAD for a return flight YUOL-MLE.

it's infant in business... so it's more expensive I guess.

That is correct, I was booking a ticket as well and they wanted $1500 to add an infant to the flight (IAD - DEL). I just bought an extra biz ticket for the infant instead of paying $1500.

interestingly enough, I called again, and got the price down to 10%...

I am actually flying AC yyz to yul then connecting to Qatar.. so perhaps they priced based on having AC as first flight and therefor came out cheaper, but I did book with qatar....
