KLM Flying Dutchman - Seat Info on 747-400 World Business

It looks like I've been upgraded on my flight from AMS-YYZ tomorrow and have been assigned 2B. However, 1J is available and according to SeatGuru it has more legroom and a private feel. I would love to hear from other FTers as to whether they have a preference between these two seats.

I found the 1A/B/J/K a very nice seat with extra legroom, extra window view, BUT if all 4 seats on 1 are occupied I actually found it crowded. Especially since the FA will come by with the trolley that will hardly fit the room. You would be better of with row 77 on the upper deck, I believe it's 77 J/K with a lot of extra legroom and the the upper deck has a over-all private feel!

That is true but row 1 does give you 3 windows and due to the curvature of the nose you have a somewhat forward view.

If you like looking out of the window row 77 may not be the best option.

I don't know if the OP is upgraded to WBC. The flight may have been oversold and some PAX are then seated in the nose section of the 74M.
In that case, the OP cannot select a seat on the upper deck

Yes, Guillaume... that appears to be the case as I am unable to see the upper deck seat plan. I'll take my place in 1J and enjoy the view as I drift off to sleep. Thanks for your help, everyone!

In the end I was upgraded to WBC and sat in 74K, my first time on the upper deck. It was nice!
