Virgin Atlantic Flying Club - VS200 HKG-SYD Upper Class: Fast Track Immigration

Hi All,

I've booked a redemption on VS200 HKG-SYD using Virgin Australia velocity points for later this year. Bizarrely, Virgin Australia are unable to include their own flights on the same ticket as a partner redemption, therefore I've had to ticket a SYD-MEL seperately.

I've had a search but can't find an answer - just looking to confirm that Upper Class passengers receive fast track immigration passes for SYD? VS200 arrives at 0735 and I've booked a connection from the domestic terminal at 1000. I know SYD can be a nightmare in the morning but my only other experience was coming off BA009 at 6am with fasttrack and being sitting in the QF domestic lounge by 0645! I guess crowds could have built up a bit by 0730 though?

I also can't recall...are fast track passes only useful up until immigration or do they cover the queues at customs too?

Thanks.

Can I ask how many velocity points did you require for that redemption HKG-SYD in Upper Class?

Also the last time I travelled this route in upper class I didin't use the fast track because I had to declare some stuff....

57800 pts + $188 per person.

I got 57,500 from a recent credit card promo! :D

I read a lot about the seats being difficult to get but they had 7 available in upper class for the day I wanted (a Sunday night in October)...they told me VS makes 7 available to them at the most. Mind you, there were none available in economy.

Ah ok. Is the $188 the tax?

What passport are you travelling on? Most countries the fast track is only for foreign passports (as the local passports are expected to be quicker anyway).

I have Aus and UK passports...the Aus one is compatible with the ePassport machine. Given that I take it any fast track option saves me no time at all? My partner will be travelling with a non machine readable passport so I guess fast track should allow them/us a priority line...but no expedited treatment at customs (if nothing to declare)?
