I think it would be good if the airlines installed cellphone jammers which activate once the seatbelt sign has been turned on and the main cabin door has been secured. The flight attendant or captain would press a button that would activate it then all cellphone signals would be lost and passengers would be forced to end their conversation. On WiFi flights the only signal that is broadcasted is the SSID if a person tried to make a call it would show 0 bars and No Service.

Then when the plane is taxing to the gate the Flight Attendant presses the cellphone jammer button again and cellphone service is restored. It can be done at schools so why don't airlines do this and it would force people to end their conversations. A friendly reminder could come on saying in just 5 minutes your cellphone signal will be lost.

I was on this flight where a passenger was yacking on his phone after the announcement was made and I had to flag down the flight attendant. She had to waste our time making him end the conversation or be asked to deboard. He was arrogant speaking in a loud manner and refused and then was asked to deboard.

That cellphone yacker delayed our flight and I almost missed my connection. I was so frustrated that I wanted to grab his Smartphone out of his hand and throw it in the toilet and flush it(: When he was being taken off by the Police I told him next time finish your loudmouth conversation at the gate(:

I'm not aware of any schools that use cell phone jammers, as that's a safety hazard.

As far as using them on airplanes, if a cell phone interferes with the plane, a jammer is too.

Cell phone jammers on planes would have the one of the same issues that the Fcc has with cell phones on planes, the inability to keep the signal in the plane and disrupting communication on the ground.

Jammers are not legal to use in the US, the Communications Act of 1934 says you can not "willfully or maliciously interfere with the radio communications of any station licensed or authorized" to operate, and it's also illegal to make or import jammers.

Not saying it's not being done and people aren't using them, just that it's not legal to do so in the US.

I seriously doubt any school has installed them.
