Qantas Frequent Flyer - 10% of AS flights today
Many here book QF code on AS metal. FYI, AS is offering 10% off all flights booked today. That might just tip the balance AS's way if the original fares are comparable.
The AS FT Board has more details including the promo code.

Yes, but even if AS if offering $$ off, how can you book the codeshare on QF?
I've had to book them as AA codes via AA.com to get the SC's etc (which posted very quickly post flights, I must admit)

oh ok, but my understanding is AS metal booked as AS metal may earn QFF points, but not SC's unless booked as a QF or AA code - so I doubt most FT members would be interested in 10% off if it meant not getting QF SC's.
Incidently it was at SEA a week or so back prior to boarding an AS flight to LAX that, waiting in the F lane, the gents ahead of me were talking about airlines and such - turns out one of them was from MEL and flying home on QF later that day, and the other guy mentioned FT and how crazy some flyers are taking it so seariously, going for miles etc.. I had to point out that not only was I an FT member, but that yes, I was flying this sector, and the next, for exactly those reasons !! (I flew SEA-LAX-SFO on AS/AA for a sweet 150 SC's). I think they were partly bemused and partly horrified :)
That was my "FT moment" in recent times :)

Correct. If one assumes that FTers are looking for value for money, then my posting was advising of potential cost saings. Even more useful if one has a FF account with AS ;)
I also just saw the typo in the subject line. Not 10% of AS ...., rather 10% off AS. Somewhat different. In any case, its a moot point now as the 24 hr window has closed.
And to RichardMEL, perhaps your quoted SEA discusson was more about the amazement at someone voluntarilly going via LAX to connect rather than somewhere nicer to achieve the same result :D.

Fair point, but LAX T6 (AS) is pretty nice as it's been redone, and T4 a short walk away isn't THAT bad - the AA club is quite nice - specially the free wi-fi :) No real complaints.
Interestingly the bloke I was talking to who was returning to MEL had a >8 hour layover at LAX before his A380 to MEL - I am not sure if he was going to spend any of that time away from the airport, but yeah... I found flying up to SFO to be a better spend of my time and a nicer place to depart from, even if it was on UA....
