Quick thread here,
I'm on UA FOR YUL-EWR-TLV, in Y. Obviously no meal on the first leg, but who does UA (continental aircraft...) use to cater their kosher meals from EWR?
And for the return it'll be LH on TLV-FRA-BOS and AC for the hop north to Montreal.
I'm currently booked in Y with LH aswell but I may upgrade to J.
Who does LH use to cater their KSML ex. FRA?
Anyone have any experiance with LH KSML in Y or J ex. FRA?

On UA (CO) out of EWR you'll get Regal (I got in Y a beef meal on CO84), LH out of FRA uses Sohar (http://www.sohars-restaurant.com/), out of TLV almost everyone gets HaMasbia

Cool thanks.
Is Sohar regarded as a good brand to receive for a KSML?

I actually hate hamasbia, because I don't like the Israeli chicken, but the Sohar meal that I had ate was very good

The Sohar is under Rabbi M. Klein of Frankfurt (http://www.sohars-restaurant.de/www_v02/www_re_en/zertifikat_restaurant.pdf).
There is also Kosher Vending machines at FRA, http://www.chabad.info/index.php?url=article_en&id=21930
http://www.collive.com/show_news.rtx?id=12777&alias=if-youre-hungry-in-frankfurt if you can, check out if they are still there & what they offer.
And if you don't know, there is 2 shuls in the airport, Terminal 1, Section B, Level 2 (Departing), & Terminal 2, Section D, Level 3 (Departing, after security check).
Enjoy your trip

Yes, I will be speaking with Rabbi Klein sometime before shabbes to disscuss about the kashrus, just to make sure it's acceptable for my (chumrah) Standards. lol.
I'll make a note to check out the vending machines for you and post a thread about them.
I'm actually aware of the shuls but didn't know WHERE they were located so your details on them are much appreceated. I plan to make a minyan in one of them on tusday morning august 7th.

Maybe thats why the food is awful out of TLV , for many yrs the most expensive food items and the Worst quality food items were those with the Badatz Eida on them
Had Shohar the other week out of MUC in C to TLV a very tasty meal and nicely presented. My Hamasbia meal Tusemorn I just gave it back after opening it and looking at it. Looked to me like a nice laxative

Yes that's true, but in all my past experiances the Hamasbiah meals have been alright.
What did sohar serve you?
By The way, I've just returned fro ma blitz trip to Israel for a real estate related deal and when I was standing in line to check in for my usual LX254 to ZRh and then LX086 back to YUL there was this clearly baal teshuva breslov guy (talking full beard, payes, long suit like me as well...)
and he had a small bag o na baggage cart so I assumed he was off to the ukraine or soemthing, after talking to him it turns out all he was there for was to hand out pamphlets about Rebbe Nachman! This was at 1:45am on a Thursday....

Ok, enough going off topic. Return to Normalcy now.

I was in FRA this week, the Shul is in the main hall, opposite from the entry to the B Concourse, there are steps leading up a floor with a sign "Jewish Prayer Room". (PS it fits in no more then just a Minyan...)
Today in the morning I was flying out without KSML, so I went to look for the vending machine to something to eat, the vending machine is right in the beginning in C Concourse, it's there, but it was empty and not working......

Don't count on too much. Last time i was there, my son was starving so we actually walked all the way out through passport control to get to the machine to find a few bags of bisli and a chocolate bar.:(

It's great how much easier it is passing through passport control in Europe. I'm trying to imagine saying to passport control in Israel "the purpose of my visit is to visit a snack machine, and then I'll be leaving"

And coming back in 20 minutes later did not even elicit a question from the agent. I guess entering Germany for just 20 minutes is normal!
I was upset at losing a half a page on my passport just for the vending machine though. I hate having to renew after just 3 years of use.

haha, I remeber a few years ago when I was still in yeshiva and I used to fly between Montreal and Tel Aviv around twice a year I'd always try and book a differant carrier and make the layover long enough to go through passport control so I could get a stamp! I did that for 3 years!
I still have the passport, it has stamps from the UK, Netherlands, Switzerland, Russia, France, Hungary, and Italy! as well as Poland and the Ukraine from when I went to Liszensk and Uman.
How I miss those days!!!!
