Using ExpertFlyer, I happened to notice AY *FLEX fares to/from LHR. Example: YYZ-LHR-YYZ IFLEX $3177. Here's what EF says about routing:
1. YTO-AY/AA-NYC/CHI-AY-HEL-AY-LON
2. YTO-AY/AA-NYC-AY-HEL-AY-LON
3. YTO-AY-NYC-AY-HEL-AY-LON
4. YTO-AY-HEL-AY-LON
5. YTO-AY-LON
By all indications, the BA codeshare YYZ-LHR is permitted. The Flight Application rules exclude AY flights 5900-5910, but YYZ-LHR is AY5998.
Yet when I try to get this to price on Finnair.com or any of the online travel agencies, the YYZ-LHR-YYZ routing doesn't appear. When I specify Finnair as carrier (on an OTA), I get sent through HEL or told nothing is available.
Does AY actually have the right to sell YYZ-LHR on a standalone basis? Maybe that's prohibited by some rule EF doesn't show me (or I'm looking in the wrong place).
This would be a great fare and something many folks would surely want to look at carefully, particularly given the competitive pricing of AY *FLEX fares.
