Will have a flight and have to check 1 bag. I read you need to check the bag 1 hour before minimum. So i assumes it best to be there around 2 hours earlier?

If one hour, must be domestic. So, get to JFK in time to check in one hour in advance. :-:

Yes its domestic flight. I have 1 bag. So that means 10:30am flight... just make sure im checking that bag by 9:30am the latest? Seem bit confusing as i saw you cannot check bags 4 hours early and 30 minutes late so its really 10:00am?

You're only going to leave an hour for that?

Will you be able to use a kiosk to check in your bags? That will cut down your wait to just the line at security.

I wouldn't arrive at the airport earlier than 9am for the proposed itinerary.

At JFK depends on airline & terminal.
I've flown DL domestic (San Juan) from Term 4 and it took about 45 minutes through security.

However, DL via Term 2 took less than 25 minutes for a checked-bag and security.

Play it safe and 9AM will work well. Depends on airline and terminal.

Welcome, Keyboard90210! :) Please let us know what airline you are flying and, if you know, which terminal you are departing from.

This thread was moved here from the Travel Safety/Security forum and may move to the appropriate forum for the OP's specific airline, where folks may have better knowledge of time requirements.
