My reservation on OZ213 SFO-ICN in Nov '12 has this schedule change - is this a routing change from the Polar route formerly flown? Are they trying to avoid overflight charges in Russia/N. Korea?

In my experience, if the non-polar route, if they do it, is much faster. The longest flight I've had from the west coast to Korea was when they took a polar route, came down over Russia, then China to the west of North Korea, and into Incheon. Daawgon Apr 16, 12, 8:45 pm The KE flight on the same route/same day is scheduled for 12 hrs.00min, but the SQ flight is scheduled for 12 hrs.45min, if my memory is correct. (all of these flights on the 772 or 773) Because of the change, it only gives me 20 min to make the connection for OZ741 to BKK, and OZ says it's impossible - their solution is to have me stay over a full day at ICN. For future reservations, I believe people booked from SFO-BKK will connect with TG instead of OZ741 next winter. jfidler Apr 17, 12, 9:48 pm Could it be that they forgot that the US switches off Daylight Saving Time on November 4? The EU switches a week before, and maybe there was a mix-up? Daawgon Apr 19, 12, 12:31 am Could it be that they forgot that the US switches off Daylight Saving Time on November 4? The EU switches a week before, and maybe there was a mix-up? I believe that major airlines have computers that tell them what time of the day it is - if any employee were to make a stupid mistake like that, I doubt that they'd be employed too much longer! (that's the very first thing I thought of also) I think I'll check a few other OZ schedules from the W. Coast, and see if their times are increased as well? |
