Wandering Aramean posted that United is doing a 25% PQM bonus for BOS-NRT fares, so I looked a bit and found this, which is 32,016 PQMs before bonus, 39,803 after the bonus. Unfortunately I can't do it because of another trip, but maybe someone else can.
That last one, NRT-IAD-BOS-ORD is two fares, the TYO-BOS fare and a BOS-ORD fare, so that should be valid for the promotion, but I'm not positive.

these kinds of tickets are very tricky and can cause major issues. SUre you can fuel dump, but it has reportedly caused folks a ton of trouble in the past.

I did the same thing last year except RNO and SIN and had no issues. Didn't know I was fuel dumping until I was told the price, certainly didn't complain.

Can you please elaborate what type of trouble?

I see it can be troublesome during irregular ops if you're doing the 2nd RT back to back.

I would suggest renaming your thread title because people don't really think of "double roundtrip" when they see "DRT".. if anything, it implies a D fare code (business class).

Going twice to the same destination on the same ticket is not allowed. Any kind of schedule change or irrop will throw this off. There was a thread about this a while ago.

Not sure how to, let me know how to and I will.

In my personal experience this has not been an issue, I know double roundtrips aren't allowed, but this is a multi city BOS-NRT-BOS-NRT-ORD, hence not a double roundtrip. I was able to book RNO-SIN-LAX-SIN-RNO with UA res and didn't have any issues.

Okay, I'm ex-CO... what the heck are PQM's?

Same as EQM's? Or what?

PQM = EQM

PQM is a new term to put more emphasis on "Premier". COdbaUA loves that word.

I thought DRT stood for direct, but knew there was no way to get 3.8 CPM for $1510 on a direct flight. That's why I clicked.

There are ways around this. Different departure city in North America/different arrival city in Asia/Europe for round trip both round trip 1 and 2.

Could you please give an example of what you mean with the same fair basis?

I'm strongly considering this trip.. thank you!!

Where is this bookable? Kayak and .com both won't let me do it on a single PNR...

When i did an itinerary like this I had to call into United to get it done. The multi city booking on untied.com for this has been hit or miss. I had it work on this itin once today, tried two other times and it returned an error.

Because the guy had no clue what he was doing.

Can't you understand that not-everyone spends their whole week-end in the Trick-it thread. Is that so hard to understand?

Has anyone gotten this booked, or found it on .bomb? I feel that 'G' fare at the end may be a problem.

Great fare but IMHO insane if sitting in coach! I've done BOS-HNL-BOS same day and back to back BOS-SFO r/t but all of those were UDU F prior to CO's takeover. Granted you have some time on the ground but I'd be wary of DVT. Cheers to those who can and book this fare!

Yup, but that will reduce the value on this particular deal since it is predicated on the 25% bonus RDMs and PQMs for the NRT-BOS route.

It is also worth noting that there is some potential question about how the promo will apply given that there are no non-stop flights between BOS-NRT.

does it work later in the summer, can I do a single r/t for 1/2 the price?

Assuming the OP believes this is a mistake fare. In the case mentionned above, this is far from obvious to the untrained eyes.

Drink plenty of water and take two shots of lovenox and call me in the morning.

In my experience it is almost impossible to get help from FT when trying to book a fare like this one. Hence, call the airlines.

I see it can be troublesome during irregular ops if you're doing the 2nd RT back to back.

In 2010 a friend booked XXX-YYY-XXX-YYY-XXX. They were quick turns in YYY about two weeks apart.

She booked via expedia or travelocity or similar. It was ticketed and she was charged.

The first problem she faced was that her reservations for the second RT were cleared on a regular basis. So she'd have to call in to fix it and hope that she didn't lose her seats.

One time when calling in, a supervisor looked at the ticket and decided that she was essentially a criminal. He reticketed the reservation (doing an exchange) for just one of the RT's. She tried to reason with him - She would take a full refund and not fly, or if he was cutting the trip in half she would take a half refund and fly one RT. He would have none of it. He didn't care that UA had ticketed it. It was *her* responsibility to know that it was an illegal ticket and she had to suffer the consequences.

She was lucky and the next day talked to someone at the 1K desk who agreed that the previous supervisor was unreasonable (and apparently there was going to be some sort of follow up/retraining). They after much effort were able to create two RT reservations for the trips. But it took a lot of time/effort on their part. And a lot of sweating on my friend's part.
