Are you talking about the UA K fare for $924?

Where did you do this multi-city booking? If I can force the same itinerary, I'd love to do this run.

How/where do you book an 11-segment routing?
Last time I tried 9 segments, it wouldn't work online and the United agent said it had to call a different dept which kept giving a much bigger price than I was seeing on ita matrix.

Just booked my PEK trip on .bomb for $780
YYZ-SFO-PEK-SFO-IAD-YYZ
.bomb shows 16853 miles, so 780.0/(8174+8679)=0.04628256096837358 cpm
Thanks op, nice find!

Does anyone know if a visa is required for a quick turnaround for canadian citizens?

my experience tells me that HKG doesn't require a VISA for canadians, but PEK may. I have always had the multiple entry VISA to China, so I never experience this problem....

I've got an even hotter routing...

PEK > YYZ > YUL...

... only $18,60

... and 32500 miles. :D

P.S. FWIW, I saw prices around $450 ow, ai from PEK to YUL on AC for July - Aug. Not sure why anyone would want to go on that OP's original routing.

If you're transiting, no visa requirement if under 48 hours. If it's a destination, then visa required. No idea how they're going to handle a stay for less than 48 hours though - although I'd assume you'd still need a visa.

It does throw the economics off.

I did an MR on AA to Shanghai earlier in the year. What I did in re: visa, was insist on a multiple visit visa for 12 months. It costs the same as a single entry visa, but you reduce the entry cost per visit if you are planning on more than one trip to China this year.

Can ou please clarify what you meant by "insist on a multiple visit visa for 12 months."? Did the Chinese ambassy try to give you less for the same money and you had to argue to INSIST on a 12-month visa?

The Chinese consulates will automatically give you a single entry visa unless you specifically state that you want a multiple visit visa. Tell them that you have plans to travel to China more than once during the next 12 months. It doesn't cost anything more. However, if you don't tell them up front, then you will only get one entry when they return your passport.
