Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer - Is the two class 777 from BKK actually a 3 class?

Just booked a DXB-BKK-SIN-SYD as part of a much longer roundabout trip in J.

BKK flights are only 2 class of course... however singaporeair.com on that flight brings up a seatmap of a three class 777-200ER, including F in row 1 and 2.

When I select seats on LH Miles&Less, as a *G it lets me select 'Prefered' seats', including... 1A. Which SQ says is F even though it doesn't fly BKK-SIN.

Is there a 3 class plane flying on a 2 class route, and I'm managed to snag an F on a J ticket, or is LH bowling a googly?

During I think chinese new year, I saw that SQ was selling J as Y and F as J for one of the BKK-SIN flights, maybe you got that again?

Yep, just called SQ and they confirmed it is F... although the agent was very cautious about warning me that 'the seat will be F, but the service will be J'.

Really rather chuffed at that on a redemption, as I also managed to snag the A380 onwards from SIN - not bad for 37,500 BD miles for the entire trip BER-ZRH-DXB-BKK-SIN-SYD in J. :D

I have always been offered ZRH-SIN whenever I call BD, you sure that wasn't an option when you called?

Yep - available either side, but not the one day I wanted! So I end up with a 24 hour and 5 minute stopover in DXB, which burns up the one stopover permitted, and a roundabout routing via BKK.

No matter - at least I get to check out the DXB lounge now its had a revamp (was pretty miserable before: haven't been there for a while), and of course the new LH lounges in the new BER. I only hope they open it in time!

On April 28 I flew SQ SIN-BKK on an J Aeroplan Award ticket. 2 weeks before flight I called SQ and asked if I could book a seat. I was given 1A with out any questions. I have no *A status at all. It is a 3 class aircraft but only 2 class service. Pretty comfy for a short morning flight. I managed to put the seat back and sleep for about 40minutes.

I always call SQ directly and book my seat, was even able to get 747 upper deck exit row on award ticket with no status for SIN-NRT-LAX a few years back.

I flew SQ J on A380 FRA-SIN on Aeroplan Award in mid April. Seats are great for sleeping. You will enjoy the A380. I called and asked for the front mini-cabin.
