looks like i am going with sixt for a week rental out of MIA in may/june including a trip down to the keys. got a very good price on an Lcar - MB E class or simular. hoping for the mb e rather than the simular bmw 5 or caddy.
sixt people, that i contacted though flyer talk, have delt will me on the price and i am very hapy with them so far, but i am still a little worried after reading all the posts and bad reviews.
i have never rented a car before from an airport so any suggestions would help.
sounds like i need to fill up right before returning it and take pictures (what of?). anything else?
plan on using my visa card and my local insurance agent says i'm covered so i was not going to purchase any insurance from sixt.
i also plan on bringing my own tom tom so no nav system.
guess i'll get the sunpass, although at $37 for the week, it sounds like a rip to me but no sure what else i could do.
please offer any suggestions or help to the car rental virgin.

I rented from Sixt for a week in MIA. I didn't get a Sunpass. I used my own GPS and programmed it to avoid toll roads.
I also drove to the keys with it,used Rte 1 instead of the FL Turnpike. I filled it up 10 minutes from the airport, didnt take a picture (not sure what of),as long as it shows full, should be no problem.
My personal insurance covers rentals,so no more coverage is needed.

That is definitely a rip. Do this instead: stop at any Publix (grocery store) and purchase a Sunpass 'sticker' for $5 at the customer service counter. As soon as you register it and add your CC - you get $5 back in credit and then simply pay as you go. The toll charge for Sunpass users is ranges from $.50 to $1.00 less than those who pay at the station - so the savings can add up. When you return the car, peel off the sticker and throw it away so that no one else can use it - and cancel your Sunpass acct obviously. Spend that $30 you just saved on some mojitos and enjoy your time in South Florida!

got the mercedes e class. everything went very well. they had given me such a good price for my week's rental i took the sunpass too. also had a $10 off coupon i got when i signed up for membership, i was going to list my wife as a second driver, but they want an additional $10/day so i passed. she didn't reall want to drive anyway. overall i was very happy with the whole deal.
