Qatar Airways Privilege Club - Doha airport duty free - qmiles. Anyone ?

Has anyone used qmiles to by from Doha airport duty free ?

I just wonder does it worth passing by ? I have almost 18000 qmiles and i'm planning to buy a gift, so I wonder what will 18000 qmiles be equal to in dollars ?

if it will buy me a +300$ gift, or not.

I requested the qmile price for an iPhone 4s and noticed the seller multiply the duty free price by 54

It depends on your status too, apparently elites get more. As a Gold, I was advised that 58k qmiles equal to ~386USD shopping in Doha.

So can anyone throw any light on what rates or "price" or "value" qmiles are worth when shopping for duty free items?

Why do QR tempt and then not tell the truth or the real deal?

Why on earth don't they respect their members more than just release some cobbled together idea without selling it in the real world to their loyal??????? passengers.

I asked in the duty free and was told that 190 miles cover 1 US dollar of purchases. For Gold members, the rate is 150 miles per dollar. As far as I know only Golds get a better rate.

So for silver it would likely be somewhere in between then? Maybe 170

I have around 7k miles but am leaving the middle east soon so won't use them for flying so would be keen to use them up on duty free (if I can afford anything).

Even using the 190 rate I'd have over $35 to spend which is better than nothing.

If the rates mentioned earlier in this thread are correct, 3600 miles should give you a value equivalent to ~$19 USD for shopping :-)

Hai guys, listen.. I purchased the followings on Qatar Duty Free using Qmiles on 30/7/2012

Fudge chocolate - 41 QR
Milka chocolate - 35 QR
Kitkat chocolate bag - 16 QR
Wine - 33 QR
Clan Wisky 2 bottles - 76 QR
TOTAL 201QR

I paid 10,100 miles which equal to 187.50 QR
Remaining 13.50 QR I paid cash. (I still have invoice)

But when I asked the cashier he said 1 USD = 115 Q miles (but this calculation may be wrong)

The currency are varied depending on the goods you buy. Please check the required qmiles with the duty free rep at the time of purchase.

I was qatar duty free at 9 december.

200 Qmiles = 1 USD for gold member.
