I don't know if you all knew, but since JP clearly hates me, I discovered for myself the 25% bonus offer on all JP conversions from credit cards today.
worth the money? I'm guessing better than using those credit card points on something useless.

But that implies the JP miles are useful.
I don't think they are, so I'm going to go with a 'no'. :p
Especially after I just recently said bye bye to the Jet Citibank card and swapped it with the Premier Miles card (a decision precipitated by your excellent input, by the way!). FYI, I was shocked at the speed and efficiency with which Citibank made the swap.

from an indian perspective, what can we get for miles? Jet Paisa, KingFissure and Flying Returns? its a relative question ;) and its a relative answer. btw, don't use the premier miles card to get award tickets via their own website. i think i also saw 29K for a bom-del ticket. I laffed it off

i have tons of miles via the premier miles card but what is the point of converting to jet miles when its impossible to use them....
on the other hand i could always convert & use them for partner airlines redemptions....

I'm thinking about this card, but they only have like 4 airlines to transfer to, correct? What's the latest list of airlines?
I need to dump my Miles & More card - LH is going berserk with regard to cost-cutting (their product now sucks totally (in biz and below)) and culling benefits now - have to find other options!

I think it will turn out to be a good enough option for me, seeing as how the Visa/Master is basically a backup card for me.
I use American Express for almost everything, and they do have a much wider range of airline partners to transfer points to.

Indeed. Assuming you don't get an agent who just says that there is no availability without checking like wildboar - that was really poor form.

I'm thinking for switching to premier miles when the Jet-Citi card comes up for renewal. But If you are saying do not use the card for redemption on their website, what is the point of switching and what are the other alternative for redemptions?

I'd prefer to transfer these miles 1:1 to JP/AI/KF/SQ/TG/CX and use them there.
I made one mistake however in my last post. Domestic mileage redemption rates are fixed at 8400 miles for LCC, 10500 for eco Full service, 20-21K for biz (on BOM-DEL, example sake) which is in line with the redemption rates of various carriers. the international redemptions are fare dependant, since the administrator of the program is buying tix and purging your miles in the account in exchange. for example, y class BOM-HKG would come at 20K miles plus taxes/surchages. here, I tried a sample date and it offered me on 9w76 BOM-HKG 49K miles plus 1500 rs. i think, and this is a guess, that Rs. 49K is the cost of ticket to them and 1500 is for ST etc.
Hope this helps

Good to know! Am planning to make the shift myself.
I made the switch because I hardly fly Jet anymore and didn't want to add to an already large collection of useless points.
But, honestly, the process couldn't be easier.
I called Citibank on a Thursday and told the woman I wanted to cancel the Jet card and get the Premier Miles card instead. She asked me why, I told her, and she said she would put in a request and someone will get back to me within 24 hours.
Later the same day, someone did call, basically just to confirm that I did put in said request. I confirmed, he said everything would remain intact (member since date, website login, credit history etc) and I should have my new card within a couple of weeks.
On the following Monday, I got a text message that my card was despatched.
On Tuesday my new card was delivered, along with the two add-ons (one for the mother and one for the housemaid).
I've been less than enchanted with Citibank's customer service in the past, but this time around it was remarkably efficient, quick and painless.
They only thing was that they increased my credit limit, so I just called them and asked them to bring it back down again.
I'm thinking for switching to premier miles when the Jet-Citi card comes up for renewal.
It's not necessary to wait; they credit your new card with the pro-rated amounts for the fees and even the tax.
I'd prefer to transfer these miles 1:1 to JP/AI/KF/SQ/TG/CX and use them there.
how many miles does 1 point translate to????i remember reading somewhere that it was 2.5 miles but i may be confusing that with points on the ultima card.....

Conversion rate is 1:1.

Thanks guys! Post 20 edited accordingly. Table correct now?
There's also the regular Amex Platinum which I use, but I believe the earning rate is the same.
Also, I think it's 1:1 for AI-IC and Kingfisher only.
For BA, Cathay, Finnair, Jet, SQ, Thai and Virgin it's 1.6.
Other than that, looks about right. Thanks for that!
O and it makes me laugh how Jet have plonked themselves alongside those airlines. As if.
Further updated post 20. Thank you!

AJ - maybe you should add a line at the end of each card, stipulating the effective earning per Rs. 100/- for JP miles (other miles also?), so cards can be compared properly.
Edited to Add: I thought the Ultima card gave you like 10 IT or JP miles (plus either IT Gold or 9w Plat status) earned per Rs. 100/- spend - has that now changed!?

it was always 1 point (2.5 miles) for inr 125 spend....
you get kingfisher gold if you take the inr 10k fee per year option....jet plat if you take the inr 50k fee per year option....

I somehow feel value of Premiermiles points depends on the spend pattern (or am I wrong?)
A spend of Rs.1 Lakh in airline websites gives 10K premier points. Otherwise, spend of similar size elsewhere is just 2.5K points. (With 9W card, its about 4K JP miles).
So, to make the most of premiermiles, one has to buy tickets at airlines website. Otherwise points will not add up quick enough.
Good thing about Premiermiles is that points never expires.

Indeed. Most of the cards have "specials" that will dramatically offer earnings.
Premier miles will give 10 instead of 2.5 per 100 for those airline websites
Amex cards will give 10x for the Platinum partners and 5x for weekend spend etc
I personally carry three of the cards and use based on what i am buying and when I am buying to optimize earnings.
