taking JFK - ZRH in F, connecting on LX to FRA in C. As i understand it, arrivals are by gates A, and the FCL is there as well. I have 90 minutes between flights. is that enough time?

if you are talking about a FRA FCL in term A you will have enough time after your zrh-fra flight..
if you are talking about ZRH, you will arrive in E from your jfk-zrh flight (non-schengen) and depart from Gates A (zrh-fra, schengen)

I was talking about ZRH. Is the first class lounge by Gates A, or is it somewhere else?

If flying JFK-ZRH in F and ZRH-FRA in C, you do have access to the FCL in ZRH. The FCL is close to the A gates after passport control if you arrive from non-Schengen such as the US.
Longhaul lights ususlly arrive in E though there have been reports (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/18373644-post11.html) of flights from the US and Canada arriving in D as well.
