Virgin Atlantic Flying Club - combining accounts to book 2 reward tickets

My partner and I each have a virgin miles account, recently opened, and accruing miles from tesco and some MR transfers, as we need to book a 2 HA flights next year and virgin is the best collecting option I have for that. We live at separate addresses. My account currently does not quite have enough virgin miles for 1 ticket, but partner's account has enough for 1 ticket plus enough combined with my account for the other ticket.

Hows the best way to proceed ? Clearly I want to book both our reward tickets at the same time to ensure that we both get the same flight. I know virgin doesn't have household accounts as such, but I seem to remember reading on here that they would allow 1 member to ring up and use miles from both his own account and another account (which on the face of it seems strange), naturally the other account name would match the other ticket name I would be booking.

I'm told that HA rewards on partner airlines can be very hard to get, so I'll need to start looking as early as I can.

Update. After going through 20 odds pages of the virgin FAQ, I found the following which suggests ways to acheive what I am looking for.

You were lucky, see below!

For the OP it is perfectly possible to use miles from one FC account to upgrade or book a redemption for anyone else, friend or family. However the rules (as per the link you posted) state that each account needs to provide for enough miles for each one way sector or upgrade. So for example an upgrade to UC from PE to LAX is 12,500 miles plus tax. You therefore need at least 12,500 miles in a block to arrange the upgrade, 8,000 from one, and 4,500 from the other will (or should !!! ) not work. If you don't have enough miles to do this the best way is to look for a top up, either by transferring miles for a fee, buying miles, or one of the shopping options.

That said, before you do anything I'd check availability because partner airlines can be tough to get, then be ready to purchase or whatever quickly.

So, jenko was very lucky and I assume got hold of an inexperienced call centre agent. Another agent will know better and that trick should not be possible!

You still got lucky, it's against the T&Cs of Flying CLub, just don't say anything :o.

I think as a parent you can transfer your Childs to you without it counting as a transfer. That's what they told me on the phone.
