All Nippon Airways Mileage Club - ANA not honoring *A Gold seat preference

Hello.
I am booked on a domestic flight (only Y class plane) and when I tried to get a bulkhead or preferred seat using my *A Gold card with AC, I was told "we only honor certain *A Gold..." -- no advance seat pref.
My friend is with A3 and was flying international and was told the same thing...all the bulkhead and even "good" legroom middle seats were ALL for infants...NOT.
Bad service ANA for not honoring other *A Gold members.

..and never has done. Any consideration of that type is a bonus.

Why is that so poorly understood?

There is NEVER a publish benefit other *A partners must honor other *G 's seat preference, this is a rule you made of your own.

Bulkhead on NH's flight will usually only open at day of departure, you can request at checkin.

I was given a bulkhead seat by ANA's system, then I was bounced from that seat a couple days before departure and moved a row back. Special seating is not a benefit, but it never hurts to ask - YMMV depending on the agent, and that holds true for every *A member.

Having said that, asking nicely in the ANA Lounge (entrance to which *is* a benefit), the agent went above and beyond to find me the best possible seat and would have put me back in the bulkhead except the seats were already re-assigned to others.

ANA is not at fault nor is it violating any *G clauses for this.

To make some comparisons, UA never guarantees preferred seats for other *G's. They make *G pax pay for Economy Plus seats, even when there are availabilities. On the rare occasion bulkhead seats are not included in the Economy Plus cabin, they extend those seats to anyone who asks (i.e. Row 20, 21 on the 763 - now they are part of Economy Plus, however.)

CO used to open preferred seats (simply those near the front of the cabin / no extra legroom) to *G/*S during online check-in, but first rows and bulkhead rows were for purchase only.

I've been really fortunate in that my two recent LAX-HND flights had me bumped up to premium economy.

Last time was at the airport upon checkin. Tonight's flight was already done in the system as I had been moved when I went to do online checkin this morning. ^

All this, I presume, because I'm a mere *G

No doubt.. AND because they had already bumped up all their own elites..^

Great bonus when they do it... but the OP was claiming preferred seating as an actual entitlement..

English not their first language? So? Would anyone seriously suggest that the information on published benefits of *G was ONLY available on english language websites?

I think not.

(Tip.. You can get it all "from the horses mouth" in 9 languages..on the *A's own website)

A gentle reminder to stay on topic. As the saying goes, there is no stupid question, just stupid answers. If you don't like the topic, move on. Commenting on the poster itself is a no no as per FT rules.
