Hotel Deals - Terrific rates, will the hotel honor my booking ?

I just booked a 2-bedroom suite for 10 CAD+tax a night (3-stars hotel). The regular price is around 560 CAD. I know in advance that it's probably a "glitch" in their reservation system.

What do I have to do to make sure that the hotel will honor my booking ? what's the best strategy ? Play the "dead" and deal it at check-in or contact the hotel to receive a confirmation ?

Please advise

First PM me the details so I can take advantage of it and give advice. At this point DO NOT CONTACT THE HOTEL

The hotel is not going to honor your rate unless you disclose the property and dates to us so that you have an army of FTers with their own reservations behind you when they try to cancel them.

To the OP
I originally asked you to send me the details so I can possibly use the mistake rate and advise you.
The reason for needing the hotel name and not publicizing the name right now is that there are many possible outcomes.
For example;
Hilton properties have usually honored these rates after much blustering. With Hilton you agree they can change the rate if they feel it is wrong. But they want to keep good will so they will generally give in.
Other properties have given people incentives to not use the reservation such as points.
Others have negotiated a lower rate than the going rate as compensation
So without the name I cannot give good advice.

Again the absolute worst thing you can do is contact the hotel right now. That is a sure way to get the rate not honored and zero compensation for their mistake.

So if you want great info you should PM if you want general information then the answer is "maybe it depends"

So PM for accurate info.

By the way welcome to flyertalk

If it is Starwood, they will not honor the rate. It has happened before.

I am with others who have responded. Please send me a private message and give more details about the booking. It does indeed matter what hotel you booked and how. I also agree that you should NOT contact the hotel directly. From my own experience I have been surprised how many times I've had an obvious rate glitch honored. With the information you have provided I think the best that can be said is maybe they will honor it.

But they will negotiate a better rate.
See this 2009 article

The trick is how to negotiate a better deal for yourself.

As this thread offers no details of the hotel deal, I'm going close it.
