One.

Get there early, and try to get an appointment as soon as you arrive. Fair few reports recently of no free treatments being available.

I get there at 7:30am for my 11:15am flight to LAX and I go straight to the Cowshed Spa to arrange my haircut.

If its the morning get John after 1pm get Sandy. They both give great haircuts, just different shifts.

The morning food kinda sucks, lunch & dinner are VERY good, especially the Indian fare.

I never looked at what the champagne was...other than comp. :)

For some extra fun use the Drive Through Check-In (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aT4NYQXGxI&context=C4ce869fADvjVQa1PpcFOGr8EdJAj6W6OKMF9JaGJw 9TDzJHTa1R0=), here is my 1st time through which was last month. It's a very nice treat, when they can find the entrance. :)

There is a huge range of food and drink, if you're there in the morning then it's the breakfast menu with items from English breakfast to eggs benedict, plus the deli with a wide selection of fruit, cereals, cold meats, three types of smoked salmon, breads, etc. I often have a plate of salmon and fruit ...

At about 11.30 am the menu changes to the lunch, dinner and all day options, and the choice of food in the deli also changes to more salady and mixed options.

The bar is long and has just about every drink option known to man, however Lanson is the champagne. If you go after 4 pm you also get the Grey Goose Sky Bar option, with custom cocktails in the sky lounge.

I don't think you'll be short of choices, and I don't think the a.m. food sucks!

I actually prefer the cocktails to the champagne.

And it's always a facial for me before I fly.

Don't get over excited. The facial is 10-15 minutes. I think the arrivals facial is better.

I get into LHR at 12:30pm on Monday and couldn't figure out what spa treatment I wanted, that sounds relaxing, although there is nothing better than a scalp massage!

In reality getting there right before closing, land at 12:30pm, Fastrak through passport control, get luggage, should get to the Revivals lounge by 1 and they close at 1:30pm... ugh maybe I'll just skip it and get a shower.

Hello! Rather than start a new thread I thought I'd glom onto this one... :o

Me and the Ms. have a holiday coming up involving JFK-LHR and LHR-JFK flights, and we'll have lots of time before/after flights to allow for proper Clubhouse and Revivals experiences. :D Having perused the spa menus, I can see there are a lot of options...so I was curious as to the opinions of those in the know.

(1) Pre-redeye (i.e., JFK-LHR), do you prefer a massage or facial?
(2) Post-redeye arrival at the Revivals lounge, which treatment do you prefer?
(3) Pre-day flight (i.e., LHR-JFK), which treatment do you prefer?
(4) Do you think the pay-for add-on services are worth the money, or do you just stick to the complementary treatments?

My own thought would be to do pre-flight facials and post-flight massages, but what do I know? :o

Also, one other question, if I may, about the LHR Clubhouse Spa: I understand there's a hot tub, yes? Is it co-ed?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

I always prefer a massage to a facial, but a haircut trumps them both.

(2) Post-redeye arrival at the Revivals lounge, which treatment do you prefer?

Hopefully you'll arrive prior to the Revivals lounge closing at 1:30pm, if you get there early you'll get a treatment, but be aware that there is no guarantee. Massage wins out again, esp after a torturous flight on a full-flat bed and buckets of champs. :)

(3) Pre-day flight (i.e., LHR-JFK), which treatment do you prefer?

Haircut again. Ask for Sandy ( a guy ), he's great!

(4) Do you think the pay-for add-on services are worth the money, or do you just stick to the complementary treatments?

I always make sure to get a haircut but the scalp/shoulder quickie massage was worth the money once when I needed it.

My own thought would be to do pre-flight facials and post-flight massages, but what do I know? :o

Co-Ed and they have a bathing suit dryer available if I remember correctly.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

It's a spinner rather than a dryer

This sounds like as good a place as any to ask this.

May next year - flying into LHR from SFO on the 1040, connecting to BA to MAN on the 1330, bags interlined. Is that enough time to do immigration (we're flying UC - does that get us through Fastrak?), transfer T3-T5 (believe the HEx is free?), T5 security, AND HAVE A TREATMENT AT REVIVALS? Is there usually as long a waiting list at Revivals as there seems to be at the departures Clubhouse?

Thanks all,

FL

Well, when I arrived at 08:00 earlier this week, there were no Revival appointments available until 10:45. That said, the arrivals lounge had quietened down a lot by the time I left at about 10:15, so your changes may well be better with an arrival later in the morning.

The 1040?

FASTRAK only goes til 2pm
Heathrow Express is free from T3-T5
Revivals is only open until 1:30pm
In my experience doing Revivals is a pain in the butt if you have to rush; you can never predict how long its going to take to walk to and get through immigration, get to Revivals maybe get a treatment and a snack, get on Heathrow Express to T5, get through security and immigration again. It's really not worth the bother. If you have interlined your bags then there is an advantage to just doing Flight Connections and take a bus right to your terminal. If you're flying Club Europe to MAN then you can use the BA Lounge at T5, not as nice, but functional.

if you're not leaving until after 1... you have plenty of time. Flying UC you get FastTrak. I always go up and get few extra from different cabin crew, they come in handy if you have to fly further back in the plane in the future. :)

Thanks for the tips backdoc! (Though frankly with a handle like yours I assumed you'd have recommended the massage... :D)

I'll be sure to report back with out experiences.

Having just returned from our trip, I wanted to report back with our JFK Clubhouse, LHR Revivals, and LHR Clubhouse spa experiences:

(1) The new CH at JFK is terrific and a huge improvement. Heck, there wasn't even a spa at the old one! Upon arrival 2+ hours before our flight, we went straight to the spa to make appointments. I had deliberately foregoing getting a haircut for the couple of days prior, planning to get one at the CH...only to be told that the hair stylist "called in sick" and therefore a haircut was not possible. Very annoying disappointing. :td: (Yes, 1st World problems, I know.) On the other hand, I ended up going with a 15-minute facial, which was terrific. Never had a pre-flight facial, but boy it makes a difference on landing! My wife went with the complimentary facial with a 30minute paid massage add-on. She loved the facial as well but thought the massage wasn't hard enough even after asking several times for more pressuer to be applied. Lesson: stick with the facials.

(2) At Revivals, I had the safety shave, which was lovely. I was initially skeptical, having had only straight-edge shaves before, but the safety shave did the job just fine, and the pre- and post-shave facial treatments were superb. Big thumbs up to this.

(3) Went with another facial at the LHR CH before heading back to NYC. Another lovely job ^

All in all, it seems to me that, unless you need a haircut (and the stylist is actually there ) facials are the way to go. This conclusion may be colored by the fact that we got phenomenal massages at the TG F Spa going and coming (:D), but still, I'm a newfound fan of the post-flight facial.

Would have been smart, right? Didn't even think about it... :(

(After 2 martinis and three glasses of wine in the lounge, and another two at the onboard bar, it's a wonder I was able to think of anything at all... :o)
