Practical Travel Safety Issues - Is LGA now playing the SFO name game?

Just went through the US shuttle checkpoint at LGA. The TDC asked everyone to state their name. Has anyone else come across this?

Not at the UA/AA concourse. I was through there twice in the last 2 weeks. However, I can tell you that they REALLY do not like expired ID's.

Was at the UA checkpoint at LGA last Thursday at 10:00 am.

They were playing the game.

At least I was able to let the pax in front of me know how "safe" we all were now after this little act of security theatre.

Weird, I was there last Thursday at 5pm and they were not playing the name game. Then again, it may have been because "traffic" at the checkpoint was unusually bad.

Ironically, the traffic at the checkpoint when I was there was the worst I have seen it in years. Usually, you can go into the elite line and have maybe one person ahead of you. That day, the elite line was backed up into the lobby area. The non-elite line snaked almost all the way to the escalators going down to the restaurants.

7:30am on Wednesday at the AC (and I think UA) concourse (A) at LGA central terminal. Agent was playing the game with everyone in my vicinity. There were no prizes, however.

Same situation for me. I usually have maybe 2-3 people ahead of me, at most. That day, both lines were into the lobby, with the regular line actually going around the corner.

I got it at BWI on Friday. I was caught off guard as I wasn't expecting it and gave him my first name.

More stupidity. :td:

Maybe random from airport to airport, but IAH has been playing regularly for months now. Funny thing is HOU does not. 2 Airports in the same city, one does, and one does not. So who exactaly makes these rules?

What is the name game for? Is it because an imposter wouldn't know the name on the ID?

How about messing with them and pretend to stutter.

M...m...m...m..my....my...name name name M mm mmm my name name is is is J J J J Ja Ja Ja Ja Jane Jane Jane Jane Jane Da da da da da Doe. Yes, my my my my na na name....

Had the name game at ORD & JFK this past weekend. BD"" was roaming throughout the line at JFK, staring down the crowd.

None of the b.s. at PEK ^ (no NoS, either)

I got it a couple of weeks ago at JFK. First and only time for me there. The stupidity of it all is galling.

Or you could always very creatively pronounce your name. Robert Johnson might become oh-BAIR yo-HAN-shin. David Taylor could become da-WEED tie-YELL-oor.
