This means they'll likely switch the 737 BBJ that operates NRT-BOM to NRT-RGN and replace that with a 767 or 787. I don't think any other NH 737 can operate a flight of that length (and even NRT-BOM is at the limit with a TS in FUK). joejones Apr 11, 12, 7:47 pm That was my initial reaction too, but the article says "737 with about 100 seats," and the two-class BBJ has only 44 seats, so the indication is that they are thinking of using a regular short-haul 737-700. NRT-RGN is about 2600 nm and a loaded 737-700 has a range of 3400 nm per Wikipedia, so range would not be a problem. Whether customers would accept a "jungle jet" for such a long flight is another issue, of course. armagebedar Apr 11, 12, 9:27 pm That was my initial reaction too, but the article says "737 with about 100 seats," and the two-class BBJ has only 44 seats, so the indication is that they are thinking of using a regular short-haul 737-700. Whether customers would accept a "jungle jet" for such a long flight is another issue, of course. Interesting. I was thinking that NRT-RGN would be almost 100% business demand, so using a 737-700 with only 8 C seats (http://www.ana.co.jp/int/inflight/seatmap/b737_700/index.html) probably wouldn't cut it, but maybe they'll increase them and bring the total closer to 100. kan148 Apr 12, 12, 10:08 am 737 on 7 hours flight sounds brutal. :( Do they even have AVOD in the Y cabin? I visited Yangon last December via BKK with Thai. TG uses A330-300 and J class was completely full with business people. Flight attendant told me at the counter that it is normal and I have no chance when I tried upgrading using UA miles. Oh well... NH's NRT-BOM is a 737BBJ, there is no Y. One plane had an all C layout and one is mix of C and PY. None of them has PTV as it used handheld device instead. LH used to have ORD-DUS on a 737BBJ as well operated by PrivatAir also all C layout. Even AS use 738 for ORD-ANC on a 738, it is a little shorter at 6 hours and 30 min, certainly there is no AVOD and no PTV. joejones Apr 12, 12, 6:43 pm And then there's Sun Country (http://crankyflier.com/2010/03/17/sun-country-to-fly-737s-to-london/) of course. |
