I will be in Costa Rica with 2 others for a week at the end of the month. I'd really like to go fishing for a full day with them but they're not nearly as gung ho about it as I am. As a result, I am the one to foot the bill.

Does anyone know of any charters that aren't as pricey as what I've found online? The only rates I've found for a full day are at least $800-$1000. That's a bit more than I want to spend.

Also any additional tips for having a good time are welcomed. We are staying at a small hotel in Manuel Antonio.

My experience is that Costa Rica is very expensive for fishing - perhaps double the cost of going out of Mexico. $800 for a full day charter for a 27-30 foot boat sounds about right out of either Quepos or Los Suenos (Jaco).

I thought that sportfishing sounded like a good idea also. That is, until I started to research prices.

An example:

$1K+. I don't think so!!
