Europe - Tulips in Netherland - 1 day?

I'm landing in AMS Schipol around 9am this coming Sunday.
I just need to be in Eindhoven around 6pm that evening (for a week of work).
I've been to AMS before and this seems like it's the perfect timing for tulips. I know there's a bus to Keukenhof from Schipol. Questions I have are:
1. Is it best to go Schipol to garden. then back to airport before training to Eindhoven? or is there a better route.
I have a carry on, and would of course not want to carry it with me throughout the garden
Perhaps train to Leiden? store luggage then bus to garden. then visit Leiden before training to Eindhoven?
2. Is there luggage storage for a day at Schipol? (outside security area of course)
3. For people who've been to the Tulips area. besides Keukenhof, is biking around the fields nearby worth while? how rough is the ride in terms of hills etc (not wanting a tour de netherland experience :)).
Any other tips welcomed!
Thanks everyone!

There is a paid luggage storage at AMS.
The Netherlands is known to be very flat so don't worry about hills while biking! :)

Cool! So is biking around worthwhile? or is after seeing Keukenhof, the scenary is not as nice as the garden?
Also would i see any windmills while biking or it's in a totally different area?
Thanks!!

I wouldn't know as I'm not very familiar at all with that area.
Wikipedia mentions a couple of 'famous' mills in the city near De Keukenhof, named 'Lisse'.
However I assume there are other mills around the fields too.

There is a paid luggage storage at AMS.
And at Leiden too. (Lockers - don't know if there is a manned storage place)

No hills. I went there via Leiden (don't remember if it was train to Leiden, then bus to Keukenhof, or train to Lisse with a change in Leiden and then bus to the gardens). Did not know there was a direct bus.
There is a windmill inside the gardens, from which you can see the tulip fields from a higher vantage point.
There used to be a discount to the gardens entrance fee for Flying Blue members.
I went last year to Keukenhof. Took a bus from Amsterdam there. Didn't see any tulips around the area approaching it. Keukenhof is amazing and takes quite a while to walk through it. It's an amazing experience. Like someone else said there is a vantage point where you can see rows of tulips at a distance but not sure how you get to them. Enjoy your visit. I am trying to figure a way back again this year before the seasons over. Seems this year the tulips are opening earlier than last year. Definitely take a camera. You will get gorgeous pictures.

What about Floriade 2012? Is that an amazing place to see tulips? Worth visiting? (On their website, it seems to be more of a flower and plant and ecology theme park than a tulip & flower show.)

Floriade is good but its really not about tulips, there are all kinds of flowers and plants you can only image so Keukenhof (http://www.holland.net/holland-guide/keukenhof.html) is way much better in terms of Dutch experience because of plenty of tulips.

I went to Keukenhof yesterday and you may do a boat tour (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsyLiZuCB1w) through the tulip fields.

I took that boat tour last year - highly recommend it.

Made it there.. easy from the airport on the bus 58.
Great weather, beautiful garden, with some amazing variety.
However it's a bit too 'man made' for me. I much prefer the large fields of tulips nearby.. rows and rows of it..then again i can see that back home near Seattle.
So the variety of the garden is still worth while.. the orchid exhibit was exceptional.
