Hi

Me and the GF are off to Tokyo next week and I'd like to know what you think are chances are of getting an upgrade.

Currently we are in premium economy (T class) and have requested upgrades to business on both sectors. We are Qantas Club Silver. Am I correct in saying that being in premium economy we will be higher on the list than those pax booked in economy (even if they have higher status?). Ie would a platinum/gold in Y have a better chance than us?

Expertflyer is currently showing the following availability. The outbound flight looks full down the back whereas the return is pretty open in all classes. I'm guessing that with both J9 and C9 that is a good sign?

Outbound QF21

J9 C9 D0 I4 W5 R1 T1 Z0 Y0 B0 H0 K0 M0 G0 E0

Inbound QF22

J9 C9 D2 I3 W9 R9 T9 Z4 Y9 B9 H9 K9 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 Q9 O2 G0 X9 E0

Thanks

Martin

I reckon the odds are good for the UG clearing both sectors. They will move PE to J to make space for Y to PE. The I class availability suggests its quite open. Unsure about prioritising Y WP / SG to J ahead of PS in PE to J. Of course, it all depends on the magical software that decides if you are "of value" to QF and sucks up to you accordingly.... As always YMMV. And sorry for the SLAs, TwLAs ThLAs and FLAs (one, two, three and four letter acronyms).

Thanks for the reply og.

I just checked the loads again and I don't like my chances on the outbound flight:

J5 C5 D0 I1 W7 R7 T7 Z0 Y7 B5 H5 K0 M0 G0 E0

Does this mean there's at least 11 seats in Business (ie J5 + C5 + I1)?

How far in advance do QF start to review the upgrades, it is possible that this may have affected the loads?

Thanks

Martin

No - it means QF are willing to sell 5 seats in total and they could all be in class J or C but they will only sell one of the 5 seats in I class. Try checking the seat map in Expert Flyer to get an idea of pre-allocated seats.

The 5 seats will vary depending on sales, cancellations and release of more seats (if that happens). Some markets (countries of sale) may have more or less than 5 seats available for sale. Think "smoke and mirrors".

Well as it turns out we got the upgrades on both legs which we were very happy with. J seemed 100% on the outbound flight so I think we were lucky to get them, but the return had a few spare seats and PE looked very empty.
