Virgin America Elevate - "Todays pilots and flight attendants are sane...AND hot!!"

That's verbatim from the recent message on a VX gate display (http://www.dearskysteward.com/28381/virgin-america-our-flight-crew-is-sane-and-hot/) at SFO (Sky Steward via lucky9876coins (http://boardingarea.com/blogs/onemileatatime/2012/04/09/todays-flight-attendants-and-pilots-are-sane-and-hot-funny-or-not/)).

One issue with this is that it ran afoul of official VX lingo. There are no FAs, only in-flight team members! :D

Political correctness aside, in the long run, this kind of smugness could come back to haunt the airline. Clearly the referenced incidents could happen anywhere. There have already been a few humbling moments in VX company history, such as the system cutover fail and the numerous brushes with insolvency. If there's another high-profile incident with a deranged pilot or FA and it happens to be on VX, then what?

EDIT: Heh, just noticed the missing apostrophe. Grammar fail, at the very least!

Virgin was doing a spoof of JetBlue's recent incidents apparently by putting that on there.

Yes, and there was an FA incident on AA as well. Sorry for not being clear enough with the references. As I said, the point is that these things could hypothetically happen on VX at any time. No public-facing company is completely above the human factor, and none are immune from bad PR from time to time.

The display might not allow for apostrophes.

Of course not. Nevertheless, the sign was at least a little bit funny.
