Just tried to call the Mileage Plus line and they said they were closed because it was after 12 midnight Central time. Then I got the "Please call back later. Goodbye."
Do they mean Central European Time?

Perhaps they decided to celebrate one of the religious holidays being observed this weekend.

Is there a holiday this weekend?

I think you're joking but I'll bite. It's just the Easter for most of the Christians and Passover. Nothing major.
Re: the original topic, this has happened to me several times since the system merger. I think they just give up at some point overwhelmed by the call volume.
Good Friday and Easter.
It's probably a call manager coding issue that's been overlooked.
