For Choice Privileges award stay, does the person from whose account the points have been redeemed need to be present at check-in?
Is it possible to add someone else to the reservation and let the hotel know that he/she would be checking-in?
Yes, Choice allows for spouses to use points for reward stays. I just did this last week. I did it by calling and using my husbands points, he then called the hotel directly and added my info to the reservation as he would not be with me. HTH

I've used points to book stays for people who are not my spouse. I fact in one case, I had no idea who they were (Coupon Connection :)).
I've never heard of this rule being enforced.
Once again, as long as you're not abusing the privilege, there's normally not a problem.

I did it for my parents. I called the hotel before their arrival and there was no problem (but I don't know if having the same last name played a role).
bw & daughter used mine...no prob...

On a similar note, is it possible to combine points from two accounts into one reservation? Specifically, I want to book 4 nights at a Barcelo resort in Mexico, but the points are split up in two accounts.
