I don't usually post a lot of MR Deals ex-Canada because the taxes push the CPM above 4-5. So Canadians, what's a good CPM for runs ex-Canada?

I created a survey (http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/MXDZ2BN) to get some info which I'll use to tailor my Canadian MR Deals posts and your participation would be greatly appreciated!

Under 5 is amazing, under 6 is good and under 7 is user dependent.

The $20+ airport fees definitely take a bite out of savings, and the lack of a mileage earning competitor to AC within Canada keeps domestic fares artificially high (at least for the Tango+ tickets that earn mileage).

Look forward to seeing what you find and working with you.

As an introduction, check out BDA. It offers some very cheap fares with very liberal rules including stopovers.

I would say for coast to coast travel- say YUL-West Coast. 5-6 CPM is quite good or $300-350. I've seen it on occasion, but it is rare. On a side note, I've seen many ridiculous vacation fares like the recent YUL-ST.Thomas deal for $126 w tax on AC which earns miles. - See this post. (http://www.yuldeals.com/montreal-to-st-thomas-us-virgin-islands-126-roundtrip-after-taxes-and-insane-prices-to-curacao-costa-rica-and-st-lucia-too) Think the guy that runs all those websites(yycdeals, yvrdeals, yyzdeals etc) would have a lot of good insight for you.

Good on you BryanIAH!

I find it tough to get anything useful/interesting in the single-digits CPM. And that's usually transborder.

Non-mileage earning Tango fares (N, G, P, E, A) on AC are one of the fences; they also made their apparition on TPAC routes a while back.

For example, to get a 5 cpm on a TCON YUL-YVR (direct, no fancy routing to extend mileage) it would have to price at $115 ai o/w. I've never seen one. And the St-Thomas fares is the first I've seen.

So you can imagine a Canuck's envy when seeing posts in this forum with 3-4 cpm! I guess that's why they invented positioning flights and BUF/SEA/BTV/PLB!

I'll be watching with interest and will share anything I happen to stumble upon.

Cheers,

Whitey in YUL

So far, i have found the best value to be something like YYZ-HKG rt with connections in SFO, HNL, GUM, NRT, etc to stretch the trip out to ~18K miles.

But that could be quite a torture to fly for 30hrs straight on UA 1 way.

6-7 CPM is fine for me, since out of YUL we don't often see that. When I can stop in places like LIH (few years ago with US), or visit cities I would not otherwise visit, MR can change into a cheap visit/holiday.

Thanks for posting this thread.

When your calculating the CPM are you taking into account a top tier bonus, or is the 5-7cpm range for just status miles?

BLI is fairly decent too and very close to Vancouver. Yes it is on AS but you can get DL MQM too.

4-6 cpm is really good these days out of YYC on UA, but hard to find. I usually try to position with an ok fare out of YYC to a really good US transcon or something to average down to 4 cpm or less for the whole run.

tough sledding these days though.

I'm not sure if this works or not (and bear with me, I am new to this).

I found a fare on TK YYZ-IST-BKK RT 19472 miles (according to ITA) @ $1050 ai. (5.4CPM)

Booking class is P, when I look on aeroplan partner site, it doesn't show booking class P, so does that mean it doesn't earn any mileage?
