I compared taxes and surcharges on two one way tickets I bought in 2011/8 and 2012/4, six months later, from CDG to NRT.

In 2011 I paid taxes for €211 and yesterday I paid... €284 (+34%)

Between french and US website it's same amount for the first line of the pop-up "taxes and surcharges" (around 70% of the total, other lines do not increase)
Same amount but not same terms:
In France it's called "surcharge YQ" known as " surcharge fuel"
but in US it's called "Carrier Imposed International Surcharge"
Why two terms?

"International Surcharge" is Delta-lingo for fuel surcharge, so it likely played a role in the language AF selected. Delta didn't used to break out the YQ on revenue tickets separately. Instead, they had a rate that was collected on award tickets originating in Europe, so they called it an "International Surcharge". Since they've started breaking out the YQ, they've not rebranded it.
